I think its also important to note that Foles is not a threat to run. That way Bill can unleash the pass rush.

For some reason against Mobile QB's he is so afraid of their legs hurting you that they play this conservative zone, contained pass rush that allows the QB easy throws. In the 2nd half they realized they needed to hit bortles and that is when the pats made their comeback.

I have a love affair with fletcher cox. I know a lot of people know how good he is, But I still feel he is underrated

This a talented defense with a coordinator who knows what he is doing.
I think he's a wrecking machine who will make his presence felt.

This Iggles D is no joke.

Love how BB said his staff is looking at 2500 Iggles plays. A clear psychological message to the their coaching staff and players .

Message: We will outprepare you and you will overload yourselves trying to keep pace

If number of sacks is what people used to pump up Jax' D-line...how come being middle of the pack in sacks is not relevant to the Eagles? I'm not saying they are a bad D-line but how do they get 4 less than the patriots in the regular season? and 7 less in the post season?

can anyone provide QB hits/pressure stats?

Just watch their games, they are clearly an elite pass rushing team. Pressure isn't just sacks.

They definitely aren’t ELITE. Above average? Sure. Dangerous? Maybe. Elite? No.

I think the more important part of this game is the philly running attack. Will we stop the run?

That O line is very good even without Peters

Brady had 2 picks, I remember Lloyd bobbling the catch and dropping the ball late in the 4th. Think we were already down by two scores so it didnt really matter much.

The Eagles relative lack of a pass rush seems like the big story nobody is talking about to me. Everybody talks up their DL rotation but they don't really generate sacks. Especially not on the road, which the Super Bowl basically is for both teams.

If we could contain the pass rushes of the Steelers and Jags I struggle to see why the Eagles are going to batter Brady into submission. And teams that can't do that are automatically in big trouble.

Maybe because its relative? Sacks are the most overrated stat and there's a long list of those. Look at the complete pressure picture if you go by stats.

Its exactly PHI pressure that took the game from Vikings. One hit on QB throwing hand by Long that was intercepted and went for TD, another QB hit for fumble and turnover.. And vs OL many praised all year as one of the best in the league.

Id take sacks over lost fumble or interception any day in the week including Sunday Feb 4..

2 or 3 I believe. The Ridley fumble and atleast 1 brady pick
I get the Ridley fumble in that game and the one vs sf mixed up but both were killers and I think the one in that game was when he was evidently knocked out cold.

The other thing I remember about that game was Hernandez sucked. With Gronk our all we had was brady and Welker, who had a bad drop.

Yes that was the one. Pollard

I would hate for us to lose a super bowl to nick foles. Foles has done an excellent job but this ain't the 2000 ravens. That ravens defense was crazy good. Have to find a way and get him out of his comfort zone. I hope to be aggressive on offense.

As in SB49, Pats will use personnel and presnap shifts/motion to to set up favorable matchups against a back 7 which has holes to exploit on quick passes before the pass rush arrives.

If Gronk can't go and I'm the Eagles, I'm locking up Amendola with my #1 corner a la Atlanta did vs. Edelman last year, then bracketing Cooks with a deep safety. If Hogan or the RBs beat me, I can live with that.

Regards,
Chris

But they should encourage Foles to keep the ball and try to run. And when he does, they should pop the hell out of him.

The strip sack was on a blocking scheme with the TE pulling across to chip the DE I believe. Was terrible, that was a gift to the Eagles.

We will chip their guys and then they have to cover the RBs against the GOAT. Completely different scenario. We don’t even have Gronk go one on one vs elite DEs.

They picked apart our defense in the 2nd half, I think we lost Talib, Chung and Dennard during the 1st half and had to improvise with Arrington and Marquise Cole outside, while Steve Gregory was our main SS.

The problem was not the game plan but execution. Front 7 were sticking on blocks and everybody had problems w tackling. They had 1 missed tackle vs TEN all game, they had multiple on first two drives.

And I don't really see it as they “realized“ how to get Bortles in the 2nd half. I felt that was the plan all along (depending on the game situation of course). First take away Fournette and Bortles' legs and see what he can do w his arm . then go for his arm..

Contain is BBs melody . his patience with strikes is deadly.. (3 points allowed in 4 4th Q playoff comebacks would suggest they do realize all the time..)

Pressure isn't just sacks.

Have you ever even read your own posts in the GDT?

We've been saying that sacks are not the end all be all of DL play about the Patriots scheme, especially versus mobile quarterbacks, for years.

Now that its the Pats opponent...it's not about the sacks????????????????????????
