SI: "Belichick's protege" is Matt Patricia... according to Brandon Spikes

Do you guys see a juxtaposition of what happened with Jimmy Garapollo having to leave because his incumbent has no signs of quitting or slowing down and Matt Patricia likely leaving because the “HC of the NEP” isn’t quitting or slowing down?
It’s all about timing...like with everything in life, timing is everything.
Having said that, it would be a dream come true if Kraft/BB have discussed a longterm plan for MP/JMcD.

I've been thinking along the same lines.

Considering what RK was willing to pay to get BB originally, maybe he'd break the bank to keep MP here until the time is right.

Yeah, I’m guessing that he’d be pretty interested in the NY job. They have some pieces on defense, have a high draft pick, decent WRs, an established (yet mediocre) QB, and a respected owner. They need a bell cow RB like nobody’s business. Maybe Saquon Barkley from Penn State? Can’t remember where they’re picking, but it’s got to be fairly high.

If he takes the Patriot Way, he will do it well on the cheap with RB by committee and not invest heavily in one guy at an oft injured position (Zeke Elliott).

If I recall, the patriots are known to not pay coaches very much. I don’t think it’s far below market rate, but it would be unprecedented to “break the bank“ for anyone.

Having said that, if MP likes being a Patriot (isn’t Mrs. Paricia from Foxboro?) he may come back one day (assuming he leaves). Pretty much no coach sticks around in one place for more than 5 years and by then, most teams are in need of an overhaul.

But it wouldn't be unprecedented. That's what my citation of BB was about. Kraft paid an incredible amount to get Belichick. We're not talkin g about just another guy on staff, we're talking about the one to carry on the dynasty. If BB and Kraft think MP is that guy then Kraft will make sure he stays [well, unless Goodell tells him not to...].

Not the HC. We don't pay much for coordinators or assistants.
