NFL coaching and executives carousel: news and speculation

Making the Browns Green Bay south isn't going to work without them finding another Aaron Rodgers (a/k/a legit elite QB).

Dont worry they will just draft EVERY high rated QB in the first two rounds this year. They will figure it out. lol.

Or that the bears are out of touch with reality.
Yeah, I'm with you on that one. What about that Chiefs offensive says "Head Coach material"? Their tight end leaves the game and then they can't do jack in a playoff game.

Or that they are aware that Nagy was a huge Champion of Trubisky, wanted KC to draft him and stayed in touch with him since. Now whether it will work (most probably not) is a different story but there are things on multiple levels going on whether you like it or not.

This is also the reason why McDaniels can afford to just sit and wait for a great opportunity and doesn't have to grab whatever bum franchise throws his way. But whatever.. looking forward to the same discussions in a year.. again.

Colts and Giants are very real threats to snatch McDaniels hoping that doesn't happen.

Hiring a coach because he liked the QBs you drafted? Sounds like the bears.
I’ll never understand how teams go after inexperienced guys who really haven’t even had success.

That's actually along the lines of what I'd suggest for them.

Take Darnold #1 and either trade up to get Rosen or Allen, if the Giants aren't going QB (Unlikely, but possible), or spend the "just in case" picks to trade up to #3 and take the QB (Rosen or Allen) that the Giants pass on. Then, let the two QBs fight it out, and worry about moving one of them later.

They've got the picks. They need the QB.

He became OC for the first time last year and just stated being a real big boy OC who calls plays a few weeks ago.
And his mentor is Andy freaking Reid.

Then you would have 2 QBs who want out of Cleveland.

I could be way off on this, but I just don't see McDaniels going to the Giants and working under a GM he's not familiar with.
It’s going to take a long time to find a job if he is that picky.
I think the giant job would be a disaster but I think he needs to understand if he really wants to be a hc picking his own gm may be asking a bit much.

That's gotta be comforting if you're a Bears fan. "We dumped a coach who has taken teams to 5 AFCCGs/NFCCGs and 2 Super Bowls so we can promote an OC from another team with 1 year OC experience whose offense this year wasn't very good and also they blew a 21-3 lead in the third quarter in the Wild Card round."

You'd have them on 5 year deals.
You'd have a ridiculous amount of cap space to work with

  • Team Cap Space: $110,849,880

You'd have a lot of picks to help them with

2018 NFL DRAFT

First round: (2) Own pick, Texans' pick via 2017 draft-day trade.

Second round: (3) Own pick, Eagles' pick via 2016 draft-day trade, Texans' pick via Brock Osweiler trade.

Third round: (1) Own pick.

Fourth round: (2) Own pick, Panthers' pick via Andy Lee trade.

Fifth round: (2) Own pick, Chiefs' pick (conditional) via Cam Erving trade.

Sixth round: (1) Own pick.

Seventh round: (1) Own pick.

What picks do the Browns have in the 2018, 2019 NFL Drafts?

The right QB + the right FA and Draft moves could have that team competing almost immediately, if Jackson and his staff aren't complete incompetents.

The Colts job is right there. If he thinks he can get Luck to succeed within his system, and he thinks it's time to move on, that's the place for him. He'd even have Brissett there to help him show Luck what he's looking for at the position.

Sean McVay syndrome? Matt Nagy is 39. Teach your kids to be NFL QB coaches and they too may get a head coaching gig by age 40.

But he doesn’t know that gm either. That’s the point I was referring to.

I was joking but I do think you would have a hard time getting both to sign and report.
In a perfect world, why not, but there would surely be issues.
Now #1 and a second round qb might work out.
