Do you think the 49ers were stupid for trading Montana and moving forward with Young?

So, you're not satisfied with Super Bowls, maybe another MVP? How many Super Bowls and MVPs does Garroppollo have? As many as Cassell does so far.

Well some idiots on this board think he has regressed over the last 5 games.

That’s because they can only cherrypick to make any kind of argument. If you look at Brady this season, the last two seasons, the last three seasons, the last five seasons, the last ten seasons, the last fifteen seasons, and the last eighteen seasons he is the best player in the game for every measure. They know this and have no answer for it, so they cherrypick to try and make any argument.

And then, when he leads them to another Lombardi, they try to pretend they were with him all the way. That’s what they did last season and in 2014, and it’s what they will do if he leads them to # 6.

agreed.....but as he keeps winning more games, the uncertainty starts to fade...hes 7-0

another absolutely known thing is that father time will catch up to TB12 in the upcoming years.....its just a matter of which year.......the particular year thing is the unknown

Unknown, like virtually everything about Garoppollo except that he was groomed by the Patriots.

Why is this troll allowed to post here?

Montana wasn't an MVP at 40. He was retired at that age. Brady has surpass Montana. Let's give jimmy a couple of 16 games season and see where we at

The problem is that the Pats had to go with one or the other, Jimmy G is at the beginning of his career and Brady is nearing the end, why bet on the 40yr old when the 26yr old is looking VERY promising?

Imagine that, a young QB made a mistake and it cost him, it's obviously impossible for him to learn from that and be productive for the next 12-15yrs.
15 a stretch.. that puts him at 41 and there is just no way... wait. never mind.

Your best case scenario is 1 title among those two QBs. Brady has 2 of the last three and went 13-3 on a team that was destroyed by injury.

You're assuming that type of performance from a QB who hasn't even allowed opposing DCs more than 1 look at him yet.

Because Brady is the main reason we are winning SUper Bowls, right now, and will compete for a few more.

Maybe BB didn't think Jimmy G was going to be better than Brady for the foreseeable future?

and he'd be at the end by then, at which point I'd suggest transitioning to a successor....oh wait...

That BB was trying to keep him suggests otherwise.

Because Brady doesn't promise. He has delivered. You assume every small school QB trained by the Patriots has the potential to win multiple Super Bowls. It's just not true. Look around the league at QBs from top programs, drafted high in the first. How many SBs have they won? You take Brady and the support system, which Grop no longer has, for granted.

I would take a couple of more Super Bowl wins over that. I trust us getting another young QB to sit for a couple of years. Again let's see what jimmy G does in a couple of years and then get back at me. It's all about the super bowl. He could have a winning season but it's all about the rings baby!

Brady has surpassed the COMBINATION of Montana and Young, and is still going strong.

So the closer question is whether the 49ers should have traded Montana and Young for Steve Bono?

2 things i am assuming

1. the 40 year olds best years are behind him.......he will decline.....and at some point in the future will no longer be the best option at QB......

when that threshold is crossed is the 64,000 question

2. i assume that the promising 26 year old.....who is 7-0......with a better qb rating than brady in the last 5 games, while playing in a new system........he will continue to improve in the coming years

i dont think these are crazy assumptions

the 2nd assumption could be wrong.....but i think it's more likely to be right
