Other team's fans psyche

It is amazing how lucky you get when you are the best, most well prepared team.

Luck is the byproduct of working your ass off.
Shh... Let them continue thinking the Pats have just been on a lucky streak since 2001.

This is a corollary to Arthur C Clarke's Third Law

Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.

Not understanding the technology of the Patriots success (preparation, planning, hard work, rigid high standards), they revert to magic(luck) as the explanation.

“Chance favors the prepared mind.” - Louis Pasteur

So his point is that other teams being stupid isn't their fault because of luck?

I loled at his “Nah!”s

Something I've said a few times here - Bill Belichick's approach to every game has a psychological aspect to it along with the physical. Teams move the ball, but don't have the scoring success expected. Teams win on the defensive side (at first glance) but allow drives when it matters the most. The constant pressure forces opposing teams into bad decisions, be it play calling, clock management, or execution. They'll get overly-aggressive (read desperate) or so conservative they play to not lose. They'll let their egos get the best of them (Pittsburgh and their zone defense comes to mind).

BB has embraced Bruce Lee -

"be like water. Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless — like water. Now you put water in a cup, it becomes the cup; You put water into a bottle it becomes the bottle; You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow or it can crash."

Hey Denver - you got some great DB's. We'll send our wide-outs out there every play. They may even get open. But, while you spend three to cover our two, our backs and Tight Ends are going against your linebackers.

Double up on Gronk - we'll run Lewis and company.

And all the while, you're doubting what you can do, what you planned, what you scouted.

I wonder if BB pays rent on those 31 penthouse lofts in opposing Head Coaches' heads?

It amazes me how many national sports media figures completely misread the end of SB 49. They act like Beastmode scoring on 2nd and goal from the 1 was a given. BB mind-f'd Carroll by using a goal-line package on defense that they had been practicing but had not used until that moment.

The Falcons not running the ball in the second half of SB 51 had a lot to do with the injury to Coleman. I guess that was bad luck for the Falcons. Edelman's catch was miraculous, so I'll admit that there was some luck in that outcome. The fact that the Patriots were more prepared physically ("running them hills") was because of coaching.

I think the board has already dissected the end of the Pittsburgh game pretty thoroughly. It's not bad luck if your coach wastes a five minute break for a review and does not get the team prepared with a plan for either situation (overturned or not overturned). That's bad coaching.

Other coaches getting owned by BB is not luck. Football is a team sport. Coaching is part of that.

This is awesome. Truly a great time to be alive.

Enjoy it.....these are the GOOD 'OL DAYS.

Luck? there's no such thing as luck. BB makes even the great coaches second guess themselves and over think. Luck has nothing to do with it. Would you say MJ was lucky? Gretzky was lucky?

It's so good to be a Patriots fan.
Damn it’s good to be a Pat’s fan.

Not to mention Beast mode was more like beauty mode inside the 2/short yardage situations throughout his career.

This person is stupid.

Bailey play was a touchback, called incorrectly.

Pats should have beaten Colts in Indy.

Clear holding was committed and not called on the Tyree catch.

Welker could have, should have, caught the ball.

Belichick was stupid to go for it in Denver in clear FG range.

Fans across the country, including here, were frustrated by the Cowboys' success in the 70's...did we ever accuse them of cheating? No. Did we call them insanely lucky? No. Did we label Roger Staubach a pariah? No.

Did we denigrate the Packers of the sixties? No. We admired them.

To varying extents, I admired the Dolphins, Steelers and Niners dynasties...until they later disgraced themselves...

I hate the Edmonton Oilers, Detroit Red Wings, New Jersey Devils, and so on, but did they deserve to win their titles? Yes.

It being a bye week and since we don't even know who the Patriots play in two weeks:
Brady threw over the wrong shoulder and missed Welker in the Super Bowl.
4th and 2 was a good call the way the defense was playing, and if Faulk had been 18 inches further down the field in Indianapolis.

When he's ranting he sounds a bit likely Jerry Seinfeld, just not as intentionally funny

And a team can't be lucky for 16 years. Yes, they have had some calls bounce their way, but people don't see the times when they haven't. Just the plays being called (correctly) have been impactful and at the end of the game.

But, show them a highlight film of Gronk being mauled 50% of the time and they'll have some lame justification for that.

I revel in their failure to see what is clearly in front of them. Also, there's 2 types of luck. blind crap luck that you can't foresee (winning the lottery) and the type of luck where a situation comes up and you alter your plan to take advantage of the change.

That second part, is just BB. Planning for a potential change and being prepared or just taking advantage of the opportunity.

I don't remember where I got my signature from, but it has been there for most of my existence here.

Speaking for me, I don't show signatures because people kept having videos and there and they made lots of posts. But, it appears we covered the luck part of it quite well

As long as we get to seven before Pitt does I'll be happy.

My Steeler friends always remind me of how many they have.
Even if most of them were won before they were alive.

****, just tying them should shut them up.
...they can count that high?

I used to goto bills pats games in buffalo because they wouldn't be broadcast on tv and people literally gave the tickets out for free. one particular game was so lame, I tried to get the wave going in buffalo as a teenager and a kind old man said to me that nobody cares about this game but we have nothing else to do. New England in buffalo in the 90's regardless of the outcome was something you did because you were bored. new england was somehow more irrelevant to buffalo then (maybe because the division was larger?) than buffalo is to new england today for sure. i didn't even know patriots fans existed but i do remember later on, the franchise used as bait in hartford.... that's bad.

think about that. your team was used as bait in hartford and people believe it!!! the yardgoats stadium situation ring a bell? i mean, anyone who thought new england would be in hartford needed their head examined, I know all about the traffic problems there with the Rent, you think getting in and out on RTE 1 is some disaster... LOL imagine new england playing at rent field.
