Cardinals QB Drew Stanton played with fully torn ACL

Logan Mankins played half of a season plus three playoff games with a torn ACL in 2011.

Why would they discipline anyone for that ? If Stanton didnt want to operation and preferred to play through it what is there to punish ?
A couple of considerations on this.

It looks like he was never on the injury report. If he reported or the team knew, then he needed to be on the injury report.

I dont exactly know the specifics when it comes to long-term, more chronic situations. If someone has some kind of chronic spine injury does he need to appear on the injury report each week with that ?

Also even if it needs to be disclosed lets not forget that the only thing the team needs to write is knee injury. They dont have to disclose the severity of it. So not sure it would have changed anything really. I am mostly surprised that this didnt get out earlier which makes me think that maybe only a couple of people knew about it.

Yea it is a mystery. Not just with AZ but all teams.

I think we can say with supreme confidence TB12 has had nasty injuries and never wound up on the injury report.

Its just part of the culture.

Kinda off topic, but just out of curiosity, what happens when the average Joe tears his ACL, do they do the same operation that the pros get or is it tough shyt? Is this where the "trick knee" football injuries that old timers had came from?

Same operation.

Same operation. Recovery is slower as you don’t see a physical therapist daily like a pro does. I also believe there is three different ways to do the Op it may be two though.

Stanton has said that he does not have an ACL tear.

Rivers did the same in the 07 afc championship game, right?

How can the league discipline them? There are no rules that players can’t play with injuries.

Pretty sure Arizona did not mention a torn ACL in any of their injury reports....

If he fully participates in practice and is definitely going to play he wouldn’t be required to be listed on the injury report.
