Not to be taken literally but some mocks can give one a bit of orientation where prospects rank at least positionally.

Its a long way to draft of course but its also late in the college season already . so Id start with this one from Breer that seems to have some research in it. I think it offers some insight plus it mocks a player talked about here recently to Pats in first round..

2018 NFL Mock Draft: Four first-round quarterbacks
____

Roquan Smith . another hot player on this board . looks like taking Haason Reddicks skyrocketting place. Players we'd like to have here and were safely off radars before the season are finding their way to 1st round(s) unfortunately. Then again, some we feared were out of reach might be available (Vita Vea, Malik Jefferson, Jaire Alexander..)..

Seems early. I used to like looking at Mocks all year round but I try and refrain until after the superbowl

Speaking of Vea . . . Tuesday Draft Notes -- 9.0 | Draft Analyst

Smith&Carter from Georgia are very good talents. Would love them both to fall to us at 32/33.. yes I am saying we win the SB.

There's lots of talent this year, it seems fairly deep as well.

Very nice!

Plus Georgia has a decent sized dt/nt that had been doing an excellent job for them and would look good in our defense.

I do not think bb has ever drafted 3 guys from one team in any one draft. Might be a first this year.

Ive just started looking at prospects for this draft. And since the need for linebackers seems to be higher im glad you gave me some names to start with.

There's an awful awful lot of fairly good talent in this draft. I also like Nick DeLuca, he's like a poor mans Luke Kuechly. Need to see more tape on him but I have him around late round 2- 5 it all depends how he goes.

My top ILB are

Roquan smith
Malik Jefferson
Cameron Smith

OLB
Lorenzo Carter (freak)
Harold Landry
Malik Jefferson(plays both easily)

I would like to see a heavy infusion of youth on the D. We currently have the ability to take 3 of the first 64 players selected. I'd like to see this capital invested in a edge rusher and inside linebacker. And then double dip on the D line with another young Big Ugly for the middle.

Maybe land Hurst, V, Payne, Wilkins by trading up, staying pat or even trading back to an early 2nd.

Grab one of them and go best RUSH with our 2nd?

Mata'afa, Davenport, OO, (<all binkys) Allen.

Davonport is 6'6/255 and can win a number of ways. I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up in the 1st with his lentgh.

If bb decides to draft an ot early, we need to look at Adams from Washington.

Big strong explosive, might neeed some help from Dante on sinking the hips.

Here's how the Pats have distributed their draft picks over the last decade:

1st round: 1 O, 6 D
2nd round: 5 O, 11 D
3rd round: 8 O, 8 D

I think you could make an argument that the offense could use some love, too.

But at which position, early on? OT maybe, although Waddle has played well. TE if Bennett moves on and Allen doesn't improve? WR since Edelman is olde and coming off injury?

I'd love to use each of the first three picks on the front seven, and fill in the offense with what's left.

In my mind, our needs priority are:

1.) pass rusher
2.) dt
3.) cornerback
4.) inside linebacker
5.) offensive tackle
6.) outside linebacker
7.) backup qb
8.) slot receiver
9.) tight end

Luke Easterling with a 4 Rounder.

1. Josh Allen - QB - Wyoming - Interesting, if he fell this far.
2. Sam Hubbard - DE - OSU - Like him. But, seems like more of a hand in
dirt guy. I think we will go for the hybrid de/olb.
2. Darius Phillips - DB - W Michigan - Don't know anything about him.
3. Jaylen Samuels - RB/TE/WR - NC St - Don't see a need there. Just want a backup te.
4. Don't have our pick because it stops before supplemental picks.

2018 NFL mock draft: Updated 4-round projections heading into Week 15

How bout

1. I. Oliver - CB - Colorado
2. D. Payne - DT - Bama
2. J. Stidham - QB - Auburn
3. TJ Edwards - LB - Wisconsin
4. Jalyn Holmes - DE - OSU - He backs up Hubbard and Lewis but plays a lot. Not a stretch to say that he would start for any other team in the country. He was a highly
regarded recruit out of HS who wasn't red-shirted and still got a lot of PT. Schiano
bragged about how good their DL depth was. And, I believe he's referring to
a kid like Holmes. #11 if you check out any of his highlights.

Phillips and Samuels are definitely Patriots type players. Phillips is so disruptive at corner. He's undersized but very physical with great ball skills and return ability. He never gives up on plays, and tackles aggressively for his size. Quite a few careers TDs. Samuels is a hybrid RB/TE/WR who plays all over the field. He's a smaller, slightly less dynamic version of Hernandez, but he can also run the ball well. Good flex back.

We need a dynamic return guy so we can get our starters off kick off and punt return duty.
Bb should be able to find a good one as an udfa or a dB that can also contribute to the base defense, if we have to use a draft pick.

And man do we need linebackers!!!!

Evens of Alabama, Jackson of Texas or Edmunds of Virginia Tech would all work for us,

Luke Easterling is back with a similar 4-rounder mock.

1. Josh Allen, QB, Wyoming
2a. Sam Hubbard, DE, Ohio State
2b. Duke Dawson, CB, Florida
3. Jaylen Samuels, "ATH," NC State

I can say I'm definitely happier about 1 and 2a than 2b and 3 (yeah, BB will take "ATH," but he usually does that in rounds 5 to 7, not 3).

MJ Stewart is a nice CB/Slot prospect that returns punts

I would like to see Josh Allen fall but idk. I think he's talented. Hasn't had the players around him.

How is Josh Allen a 1st round draft pick? He's tall, powerful arm, can scramble a bit . . . but he can't seem to throw complete passes. Seems way too risky for a team to pick him in early in round 1 and teams drafting later in 1st round generally don't need QB's.
