Kraft Forced Belichick to Trade JG

This is the only logical explanation for the trade.

Brady camp 3 days ago felt privately TB could be traded by Bill after 17. This was a Kraft decision to make it clear Brady finishes as a Pat

12:26 PM - 31 Oct 2017 from Lake Butler, FL

This is the only logical explanation for the trade. The NFL has a long and storied tradition of meddling owners causing their teams to flounder. The Pats will fare no better than the Cowboys did after Jerry Jones forced out Jimmy Johnson.

I'm actually surprised Belichick didn't resign because of this.

Sorry, but this didn't deserve it's own thread. If you had half a brain and you'd read the threads on the trade, you'd know there were plenty of much more plausible reasons to trade Garoppolo now.

- SF is currently 0-7.
- SF just took a hit to their O-line in Staley being injured.
- SF has Hyde and Garcon currently. They have other pieces that haven't gelled.
- SFs defense is full of holes as well.
- The Patriots TRIED to get an extension done at the beginning of the league year (ie. Spring) and supposedly were willing to pay Garoppolo starter money. But they couldn't guarantee what Jimmy wanted. Playing time.
- The rumors of multiple early picks for Jimmy were just that. Rumors. Turns out that Cleveland was offering a mid-2nd at best.

- In all likelihood, San Fran's pick ends up being top 3 of the 2nd round. By comparison, the best pick the Pats could have hoped for if they'd lost Garoppolo to Free Agency was #97. Even if San Fran pulls a miraculous 180 and finishes with a .500 record, they don't make the play-offs and the pick is #48. #48 >#97.

- Yes, the Pats could have franchised Garoppolo. But that would have guaranteed the exit of Butler since Garoppolo couldn't be traded until he signed his tender. During that time, the $20M in cap space would be tied up giving the Patriots no room for signings..

Not sure why it's such a crazy thought. Kraft is indebted to Brady for making his team worth billions.
Right. Belichick had NOTHING to do with it.

What's the cap hit of trading Brady after this season? Still pretty high, is it not? I thought it was after 2018 that Brady became somewhat tradeable/cuttable from a cap standpoint.

Regarding recent notions on this board, here are some things I could, at least theoretically, buy:

BB and TB aren't the chummiest of friends
Kraft gave his input on a TB v. JAG situation
BB might have been willing to move TB instead of JAG
This was not the best time to trade JAG

But things I can't buy:

The Patriots were just going to release Brady after the season
Kraft's interference is the only logical reason for the trade

BTW -- let's break the tweets down:

1) Brady's camp thinks he could be traded after 2017.

Of course they do. Brady's seen everyone come and go. Brady's father also is on record thinking his time there was going to end badly given Belichick's history. I have no doubt Brady's camp WAS concerned about this.

2) The subsequent tweet on TB relationship with BB not great, all his loyalty to Kraft

Once again, this seems reasonable too. *All* the Patriots players comment on how Kraft makes them feel part of the family. Can you picture Belichick giving out those warm and fuzzies? Brady bought land near Kraft to build a home in Brookline several years back. I think Brady and Kraft really do feel like family, while Brady and Belichick have a good working relationship but aren't buddy/buddy in real life. How can you be buddy/buddy with your coach?

3) Therefore, Kraft forced this trade to ensure Brady stays with the team forever

This incredulous statement needs incredulous proof. If anyone's earned the benefit of the doubt, it's Belichick. I'm sure Kraft made his viewpoint known, but if Belichick wanted to keep Jimmy G and Kraft said no, I can't expect Belichick to want to stick with this team much longer given how he'd have a carte-blanche pretty much anywhere else except Dallas. Kraft had a great relationship with Bledsoe too, who was the franchise before Brady, and he was willing to trade him when he realized that Brady was the guy.

In short, this guy needs to prove part 3. He can't just throw that out there without proof. Items 1 and item 2 are certainly reasonable and in fact were already known to the general public.

"BB and TB don't get along well" - blah blah blah

1 - Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence; and

2 - This is high school level gossip BS. Do any parents out there care to weigh in on their teenaged son/daughter's current relationship dynamics? I think that's relevant to this thread at this time...

I'm sure this guy is just trying to make a name for himself.

He is well known and established in Golf media.

There is no reason for him to make sh!t up.

However, that doesn't mean he has credible sources.

Or just maybe, he is on the money, which really wouldn't be too shocking either.

I don't know how to feel about this..

Of course there's reason to make **** up. It gets him attention and publicity.

Well Bill did rebuff his bro hug.
