Post Game Thread Pats @ Jets

It's called "Losing your star slot receiver for the year in the last pre-season game". There's nothing that can be fixed about that right now. The Pats have who they have at this point.

Lots of teams have lost lots more "than your star slot receiver is their 4th preseason game".

Number one, any Pats game that ends with a win and no major injuries I'll take every time.

Having said that, you've got to contort yourself into a pretzel to take the position that the Pats passing defense looked good in this game. But silver lining, Gilmore and Rowe were out.

I do wish Atlanta had beaten the Dolphins today.

i take comfort in that they allowed 3 points after the 1st and bademosi was getting snaps (and looked awful)

I'm sure they showed it once on the live game an angle where the ball is forced from the left hand by hitting the ground with it then moving to the right hand being shown from the angle on the video above.

james
He did great as a pass blocker too, he made a couple key blocks to keep Brady upright.

He saved Brady from one blindside hit, in particular, that damn well might have killed him.

james white was nasty on blitz pick ups if i was seeing it right (got to watch without kids, in a bar, for the first time in years lol)

Is there a view that shows this out there? I think the call was correct and since the original ref did not see the ball loose - his call was given no weight.

We're not talking about those teams. We're talking about the Patriots.

Can't believe how many people are undermining the Patriots this season even some fans lol, still gonna repeat RELAX

They don't have the horses to beat KC in KC in the playoffs. Even with Reid as their coach.

Next year they'll draft some LB and DE and that should shore up the D.

I agree with that as far as it goes.

However, as I said above, I don't think it's so clear-cut that he re-established control too late.

replay could make the case that since he clearly lost possession, with no clear evidence that he regained control, that the call has to be touchback

I'm counting down to February...

Kc hasn't won a home playoff game since 1992

Not scared at all at playing in arrowhead

Chiefs are huge choke artists in the postseason

It's crazy how the playoff choking has continued despite different teams, different eras, different HC's (Shotty, Weis, Reid) and different QB's(Smith, Gannon, Grbac, whoever was before them, DeBerg?). Great regular seasons netting a home playoff game and a loss.

The correct call was made, the player didn't possess the ball when it crossed the goal line and didn't regain full control until he was out. TOUCHBACK.

Secondly Butler came in trying to make a play and guess what? He did. He caused Jenkins to fumble it.

Anyone saying the D got bailed out by that clearly has an agenda. They also are completely ignoring on 7 out of the 8 drives after their opening TD Pats forced 4 three and outs and 3 turnovers (yep the Jenkins fumble is a forced TO, deal with it trolls and doom & gloomers)

If anything bailed out anything the D kind of bailed out the offense who really should have put up at least 30+ points when the refs decided to keep the flags in the pocket on obvious stuff that would have put them in FG range.

If they had ruled that AJS did score a TD don't we think that the Pats offense would have played completely differently from that point forward. Trying to ignore the entire end of game dynamics is what always kills me with the analysis. It was a big call. Does it mean that the Jets ultimately come back and tie the game or win? No way to know.

Edit - the picture above is a bit murky, but seems to support the final call.

Actually after hearing from the ref, whether the knee is in bounds or not is irrelevant because he didn't gain control (per rule) until after every piece of him was out of bounds.

I really wish they would fix some of these defensive problems so I can relax a little more during the game, but hey a wins a win and I can relax now, can't believe I'm saying this but I hope the Steelers win!

We just got our wish.
