Here come the hawt taeks... trade JG

That ship has sailed, all the value has gone now.

Apart from the fact that trading him for anything but a bank robbery would have been a stupid idea, you dont trade away your good QB2 in a season where your 40y old QB1 is on record pace for sacks because the play has been more vertical and needs more time to develop.

Also as good QB he still has a ****ton of value because guess what.. a lot of teams have ****ty QBs and are held back by them.

All this is rumor about he value of JG, no one really knows what was offered for him.. if there was a blockbuster trade the Pats would then have to parlay all those rumored "high draft picks" to players who can make an impact on the team..

As much as we all believe that JG is worth a boatload of picks, maybe in our psyche we all believe that this is a "Herschel Walker" situation.. hint it is not.

Great idea. Maybe we can trade him to San Fran for Solomon Thomas and Reuben Foster, or to the Giants for Oliver Vernon and Eli Apple.

Or we can realize that no one is going to move two starting caliber defensive players for a QB midseason.

Not a shot at the OP for posting this but just when I start to forget how stupid the industry pundits can be, a post like this comes along to jar me back into reality.
Great thing about Patsfans is the"crowd sourced" informed analysis.

It's the crappy teams. Teams like the browns or bears. Who knows
Both teams drafted their Garoppolo already (Kizer and Trubisky). This ship has sailed. Plus JG’s trade value is at its lowest, teams know they can just wait until the offseason and sign him as a free agent.

I think it's more on the terrible play of the LBs, and the decision to switch Hightower to the edge, where he's clearly been less productive. It isn't like he's making much difference with setting the edge or getting the kind of pressure that we all envisioned, despite having a nice sack. My opinion is that he's a better run stuffer as a LB, coming up to the line to blitz in certain situations. Obviously, Belichick disagrees.

People keep harping about the DL, but I think Guy played just fine, and I also don't think Malcom Brown has been as bad as many claim. They aren't a good group, but I think they can improve for sure.

The run-D number is somewhat inflated by Kareem Hunt's performance in week-1, which was apparently no fluke. Hunt has averaged 125 rushing yards a game over his first four NFL games, at a 7.4 YPA (and has 4 rushing TDs). He also has 13 catches on 13 targets for another 157 yards (115 YAC, 12.1 ypc) and another 2 TDs.

The run-D also gave up 16/85 to two rushing QBs (or, perhaps, held them to that). Against Brees, a traditional dropback passer, the run-D looked fine.

Also, keep in mind that both Branch and HT played extensive snaps in the week-1 debacle. HT didn't play at all in week-2 or week-3 (so his "move to the edge" hasn't been a factor in run-D since week-1), and Branch has been utilized very sparingly in the last three games (averaging 16% of the snap after getting 62% in week-1). The run-D has been pretty much average (not horrible) without them.

I'm not particularly worried about the run-D.

The pass-D has clearly sucked, OTOH.

I'm just gonna throw this out here:

And does anyone know how Garoppolo feels about that? He kinda has some say in the matter for the first time.

Oh sure, they could franchise him which forces him to stay, but that is hardly an ideal outcome for the team.
