The offense is awesome. The running game looks fine, especially when Develin's in there. There is one obvious problem. Shifting the focus of the passing game downfield has its very obvious cost: more sacks and hits.

IMHO, the OL is playing at least as well as last year. If Brady were releasing in the same amount of time as last year, he would have a clean jersey. But the game plan is different, and the predictable result is more sacks and hits.

So, Josh needs to get ONE improvement from the offense: fewer hits on Brady. IMHO, a lot depends on game plan and playcalling. We have the best OC in the league. This should be within his skill set.

Definitely, it's loaded with talent and actually still have a few injured guys who can add more eventually (Rex, Mitchell)

Not to mention the fact we've played three good/great defenses (KC, Houston, Carolina)

Averaging 32.5 points per game, after having faced three very good defenses (KC, Hou, and Car). In their games against non-Pats opponents, the Chiefs have allowed 30 points (15.0/g), the Texans have allowed 52 points (17.3/g), and the Panthers have allowed 40 points (13.3/g). Even the Saints have allowed 63 in their non-Patriots games (21.0/g).
- KC: 15.0 vs non-Pats, gave up 27 vs NE. (NE +12.0)
- NO: 21.0 vs non-Pats, gave up 36 vs NE. (NE +15.0)
- Hou: 17.3 vs non-Pats, gave up 36 vs NE. (NE +18.7)
- Car: 13.3 vs non-Pats, gave up 30 vs NE. (NE +16.7)

That's doing an awful lot of scoring against teams that told their non-Pats opponents to a LOT less.

This offense is absolutely elite. But their defense has been the WORST, which means....they're 2-2. Right where they should be at this point.

It's only going to get better. The O-line is struggling and Scarnecchia will get that figured out like he always does. burkhead will be back soon and will improve the play from the slot. Brady will connect better with both Cooks and Dorsett.

The bigger issue is with the defense and I don't know about that. I expect Belichick and Patricia to figure it out, but I've never seen their defense play so bad.

If the defense can get off the field a little bit more the offense will be off the charts

If the defense forces Brady to have to score 35 every single game I fear he's going to get hurt or at least wear himself out.

Last week when they were talking about Tom Brady tying the regular season winning record with a win today, I thought he’d be leaving that record in the dust in no time. Now it suddenly occurred to me it’s possible he might get killed before even tying it

The thing is we are playing against the best defenses and still scoring a lot. Sometimes it looks like they are just going through the motions and get stagnant but when they really want to score it looks effortlessly.

Who cares if they can’t take care of the other side of the ball?

It was so effortless against the Texans on the final drive that they needed to convert two 3 & longs, got strip sacked and the Texans dropped an INT. Yesterday it took two 4th downs to get the final touchdown. As much as people are way too gloom and doom about the defense they are also a bit too hyped about the offense. Things are neither as bad or as good as they appear.

I'm not sure what they are going to do to fix the defensive issues but I do think that they have the right personnel on the field to fix it with. Maybe they should take advantage of the DB's aggressiveness. Both Butler and Gilmore are scrappy players. They love to hit hard. Next time they see a bunch formation just let them jam the **** out of the receivers at the line of scrimmage. The next penalty on Gilmore I want to see is , "The CB called the receiver a whiny little *****"..

Anyway, once the defense figures itself out Brady won't have to push the offense downfield all day but instead he'll be able to milk the clock and take less hits.

Yeah the way to tds aren't always just one long td pass that takes just a few seconds off the clock but they still met my expectation of scoring with almost no time left on the clock. They would have done the same if given the chance.

These arguments about defenders dropping ints is the same as our receivers dropping passes. Get over it, you can't change what happened.

If they stay healthy, they can be very good. I am just hoping Brady doesn't get hit as often as he does.

You missed the point. 4th down conversions and near turnovers is not what effortless means.

Even accounting for play selection going more vertical the OL play has stunk this year. Cannon is drifting back to his 2015 form which is Real Bad, and Brady is getting sacked at his highest rate since 2001.

Respect. Of the Tackles, Cannon is the one you should be least concerned with at this time. He has played far better than his counterpart. Any post that doesn't specifically name Solder is remiss.
