Zolak: Brady will get a two-year extension

He probably should have gotten wrecked. If it was a lesser QB, like Bortles or Fitzpatrick, they would have left the field on a stretcher. I think that shows the respect other players in the league on the defensive side of the ball have for him. He rightfully should have been laid out and, yet, was not. And that was even against a bitter rival. That said, I have no doubts that someone like Pollard or Ward would have went helmet-to-helmet.

Yea Ward would have ended his career... Brady is so lanky and slow, even guys like Richardson can get going full steam ahead and line up a perfect shot on him

Ward would have ended him on that play

Dang am I shell-shocked. I was just looking through threads and saw this after the E-Lie memorobiliagate thread... power of suggestion... For a moment I read it as "2 year suspension"

I was like,

After this season for a top 10 pick? See this is my problem with both you and Andy you present your opinion like it's the only one and anyone who disagrees with you is "batshit crazy". Before you go into your kellerman cliff routine as I have said in other threads I have seen no decline in Brady's game and Agree he has been playing at an all pro MVP caliber level. He is likely to IMO for the next 2 years. Physically I bet he could play another 2-4 After that at a top 15 QB in the league level. Before the draft I was all in on making the team around Brady the best it could be for those years by trading Grop. Now I have new data that has to shape my opinion because Bill didn't do what I wanted. I don't think Brady will play 5 more years. I THINK he has two more before family pressure is going to make him retire before he is 100% physically done. Based on his Jordon comment about 6 rings I believe that is his last goal and he will be at peace calling it a career after that to spend more time with his family. So to answer your question would I give up 2018 of Brady to keep Grop and add a mayo Seymour wilfork or mccourty to the team? Damn right I would and it has nothing to do with how much I love and adore Tom Brady

I wouldn't trade Brady for even 10 first round picks. Thank god you're not running the team.

Makes sense to extend him, if for no other reason that to end the gossip and speculation.

More seriously, Brady also deserves a big whack of cash up front...um, he did just win his fifth SB in historic fashion after taking the team to seven.

I'm not a cap-ologist, but I imagine the up-front cash can be spread over the four years of the new contract. That gives well deserved money to Brady and leaves the Franchise with flexibility.

I don't know what the heck it means for JG, but he knew what he could be getting into when he entered the NFL Draft. My personal view is that BB and the Krafts have decided to take it season by season and only make the hard decisions when they have to make them. But, since none of us know what is in their minds, everyone is entitled to their own opinions.

My apology for my lack of political correctness but trading the best player in football for any pick is beyond stupid. And anyone who proposes it has no respect for Brady at all.

They view JG as a starting franchise QB because if they didn't he would of been shipped for the 1st round picks teams were offering

I'll take the first next year for Garrapolo

And they get to keep the best player in football on the best team in football.

And if anyone wants Brissett in 2018 our phone lines are open........

Thing is, they're probably right.

Anything less than Garoppolo behind him and half the fanbase would be screaming for a better backup QB. Having a legit starter behind him, the other half get defensive and target anyone who starts talking about succession plans as if they want to murder TB12 in the street. Welcome to fandom.

Zolak has a serious tweeting problem when he's drunk. Which is often.
Drunk Zo proving my point
tweeting from the Cape about Paul George. Embarrassing clown.

Yea I love Tom Brady my favorite sports player ever as you can see in my username name and avatar but if JG is a legit franchise QB then you hold on to him no matter what even if it mean moving on from a 41 year old Brady in 2018 its how BB is wired, even if we go 19-0 next season if JG is considered a Franchise QB than you go with the 26yr old over the 41yr old who whould have but a year or two left of elite play, long story short in the 2020s when Carr/Prescott all the young QBS etc are lightning up the league I want us to be still relevant bullying the NFL hopefully with Jimmy G and not be a past dominate memory household name like the 49ers of the 2000s/Cowboys ya know

No, you don't.

Enough with all the " it's how Belichick is wired " bullsh!t. You have absolutely no idea what Belichick thinks, nor does anyone else. And spare us all the garbage about how much you love Brady. You want to dump him when he is the best player in football because you have a boner for Jimmy Garrapolo, it's as simple as that. You can't make any argument at all as to why Garrapolo should get the starting job because there is no argument other than Kellermans cliff, The "26 year old FRANCHISE QB" garbage is a fantasy you and others on this board keep clinging to as your reason to dump the best player in football regardless of how good he is playing. If Jimmy Garrapolo truly is a "franchise QB" then he should have won the job by now, but when they actually needed him to play four games he couldn't make it through two. So have fun following Garrapolo wherever he goes because he's not going to be the starter in New England. That job belongs to the best player to ever play the game and he isn't close to done.

See what I mean?

And the best part is that these guys are arguing life and death over a non-mutually-exclusive position. Both can get what they want at the same time, depending on a few things.

They aren't getting a first for JAG next year (should the team wish to move him). Any team that pulls the trigger on that deal, given JAG's contract status, should fire their GM immediately.

No. You go with the guy that gives you the best change to WIN NOW. If Brady is still playing like Brady, JAG should get dangled as trade bait. If Brady morphs into 2014 Manning, you can then expect him to have a 2015 Manning season. If that's the case then, yes, JAG needs to be kept and Brady will most likely show himself the door before the team has to do anything else (given his previous "play until you suck" comments).

The really interesting question is what happens if Brady is pretty good, but has clearly declined... a little. If he turns in a B+ performance. That's when the real arguments start happening.

That might well be the case and so I can't argue with you. You might indeed be right.

But, the reality is that we don't know how they view JG.
Franchise QB or reliable backup for one more year?
Unless you've had a one-on-one with BB, Josh or the Krafts, you just can't know.

And, we don't know what picks were or were not actually offered, as they were all just reported in the media.
So, something else we don't know.
