Tom Brady and his insane Super Bowl stats

Only won I care about is win. This is just the cherry on top

I think that is a bit short-sighted. So much depends on others.

Look at 2007. Brady struggled throughout but drove late to score the go-ahead touchdown. And if Asante just..I don't want to get started. But Brady could have had his 4th ring then. Brady did his job.

In 2011 it was that Welker drop, but had the D held on, that's 5. Meanwhile in 2014, Brady led an epic comeback, but if Butler doesn't make that interception, Brady is potentially 3-3 in Super Bowls.

The point is that sometimes it's totally out of a QB's control. Brady did enough to potentially be 7-0, but I don't blame him for the 2 losses. It's about more than just him.

I was looking at these earlier and realized something. These will probably never be broken in our lifetime unless they get rid of the salary cap. And even then it's unlikely. This is just Super Bowl stats, not even playoffs, which include unreal stuff like Brady being at 25 playoff wins, and the next best being 16.

I was surprised to see that Kurt Warner has thrown for more Super Bowl yards than Montana and Elway

he has pretty much lapped the #2 guy in every category but TDs

Children are at it again I see.

Kurt Warner put up SICK Super Bowl numbers.

1/30/2000 vs. Ten: 24-45, 414 yds, 2 td, 0 int
2/3/2002 vs. NE: 28-44, 365 yds, 1 td, 2 int
2/1/2009 vs. Pit: 31-43, 377 yds, 3 td, 1 int

He was, at his best, a truly great quarterback. I wonder how many guys took two different franchises to the Super Bowl. Can't be a very long list. Warner, Peyton.... who else?

We are so lucky. Who'd a thunk it? The best player ever to play the game literally falling into the lap of our flashes-of-greatness-but-often-inconsistent-and-sometimes-downright-bad-team? So glad I have had a front row seat!

Looked it up. Craig Morton is the other guy. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dallas_Cowboys
SB 5 with Dallas, SB 12 with Denver

I'm glad the Pats won their last two Super Bowls. If the GOAT lost those, he would be 3-4 in the Super Bowl and viewed a little differently than he is today and probably permanently out of the conversation for GOAT.

Thank goodness the good guys won. :)

I seem to recall a thread where a prominent topic was wanting people to lighten up about jokes...
And me making a joke is somehow contrary to that?

Ah yes....Craig Morton. I don't remember SB 5, but I remember Dallas crushing him in SB 12.

I didn't realize it was a joke I thought you were just being salty. Usually I'm good at reading nuance and stuff 'n' things. Sometimes not I guess

Hoisted by my own petard!

I also posted in response of "I wonder how Andy would think about this" (re who will be 2018 QB) with " let me sleep on it"

That one was obvious!

Someone, somewhere will complain that Steve Young is actually the best Super Bowl QB on a per-game basis, and that it's unfair for Brady to lead a bunch of stats because he 'just happened to' play in more Super Bowls than anyone else.

Unrelated but one amazing statistic that I always get wowed by is Brady's record in the Playoffs when throwing 50+ attempts. He's 5-1. All of the other QBs in the league combined have a record of ~0.250 (both regular season and Playoffs) IIRC when throwing 50+ attempts.

I don't know why a few NFL fans still argue about Manning, because there really is no question who the best QB is in the past two decades.

And Tom remains THE ONLY quarterback in league history with a winning record when asked to throw the ball 50+ times. The next closest guy is barely above .500.

Guys, think about how difficult that is to do from a physical standpoint. Damn the stats. Just think about the kind of shape, mentally and physically, that you must achieve and maintain to be able to do that in one game. Now, after your brain freeze has ended, look at how many times the Patriots have asked him to do it. And finally, if all that didn't suffice, think about how many times he'll be asked to do it at 40 years old. It's mind blowing stuff!

Win some - Lose some. All of the super bowls have come down to a possession or a single play. Fortunately, he is 5-2 in all this which is pretty good

Help me understand this. To be above .500 is to have a winning record. How can Brady be the only QB with a winning record if the next closest guy is "barely" (yet still) above .500?
