Sucks for Clayborn, but he's gonna have to wait a while. Can't imagine him getting in over Seymour or Vrabel this year. My money is on Seymour.

The more I think about it, Clayborn may have a legitimate chance to get in this year.

With Seymour and Vrabel both being familiar BB-era players, they could split the votes from the fans with shorter memories.

That would open the door for Clayborn, who has at least gathered a little bit of familiarity due to multiple nominations.

“On a day when they could have had impact players David Terrell or Koren Robinson or the second-best tackle in the draft in Kenyatta Walker, they took Georgia defensive tackle Richard Seymour, who had 1 sack last season in the pass-happy SEC and is too tall to play tackle at 6-6 and too slow to play defensive end. This genius move was followed by trading out of a spot where they could have gotten the last decent receiver in Robert Ferguson and settled for tackle Matt Light, who will not help any time soon.”

I'd be happy with Clayborn or Seymour. Seymour was a more dominant player than Clayborn and I don't see why he should wait a year for Clayborn just because Clayborn was wronged in the past. Imagine Brady being delayed a year so Gino Capelletti can be put in NFL HoF. I wouldn't want that.

Patriots 2017 Hall of Fame Finalists Announced

Raymond Clayborn

Mike Vrabel

Richard Seymour

Glad to see Parcells did not make it.
Amongst the NFL Games Career Leaders, there are over a dozen who played for the Patriots. It's amazing.

NFL Games Career Leaders | Pro-Football-Reference.com

Among guys who played their entire careers here, there's Tom.

Tom. Tom Brady! Wake up, what are you doing sleeping at 1:17pm on a Friday afternoon?

OK, OK, none of my beeswax. Anyway, second is Bruce Armstrong at 212. 16-game schedule his entire career. Maybe he's a terrific guy, but...somebody cares about whether the offense or the defense get introduced before the game in New Orleans in January '97? Whatever.

Julius Adams played in 206 games, from 1971-1987. 14-game schedule from '71-'77, plus missed all but the season opener of the 1978 season with a shoulder injury, otherwise he'd be a hundred places higher on the all-time list.

He did it during the most tumultuous time in the history of any franchise: being robbed of joining the ranks of early champions in the post-merger era; experiencing unspeakable on-field tragedy; being highly competitive and in fact winning within the dominant conference despite the owner's financial shortcomings, and maintaining team pride, class and tradition in the midst of unparalleled denigration, belittling and oppression by their own local media, national media and their own league.

Julius is more qualified than other inductees strictly based on his on-field accomplishments, but in terms of loyalty, example, class and leadership, he is alone at the top.

We will celebrate his birthday in five days.

The good news is, this flawed, biased, stupid process, along with the ugly flying elvis, and local and national ignorance as to exactly who and what is the New England Patriots, are all soon to be replaced with something appropriate and respectful.

Regardless of what fly-by-night, bandwagon, pretend-fan millenials think. The 90's sucked, and the team's looked stupid while winning this century. Get over it.

There should be a separate category for folks like him: Significant Contributor Turned Douche.

Oh, but Dan Shaughnessy and Bob Ryan say it was PARCELLS who is the single person most responsible for the Patriots success the past 2 decades.

.

I think it sucks that players that should be in have to wait, possibly past their death, to get in.

I hate posthumus elections. If they should be in get them in while they still can enjoy the honor.

I think the election process needs to be adjusted to account for the unprecedented success this team has had.

Of course, they're wrong. Parcells made a difference, no question. But the way he selfishly screwed the franchise on his way out the door pretty much soured his relationship and reputation with New England. Going to the Jets was unforgivable, I'm so glad he didn't win anything significant there.

This looks plagiarized...oh, wait, there are quotation marks.

Sorry, but while Seymour and Vrabel are both worthy additions and eventually WILL make it, Raymond Claybourn's time is NOW! If fact it is well past now.

If Pats fans really want this to be a real Patriots HOF instead of just an homage of the Pats success during the BB era, then they will show that they are true Patriot fans and elect Ray Claybourn this year. It shouldn't be simpler or clearer. Pats fans should just do the right thing.

BTW- It is SOOOOO good not to see Parcells name inflicted on this celebration of Patriots' history again. He has his place in our history, but NOT in the HOF discussion. Not any more.....thank God.

So, I guess poor Clayborn can win the award for most times nominated, but never elected.

Just remember that this man has an actual, real vote in the NFL Hall of Fame.

The 96 Patriots had what might have been the worst coaching performance I've ever seen in a Super Bowl... and that says a lot as I watched Super Bowl 51.

If BB was head coach of that team... or even Parcells himself if he didn't have his frontside already out the door... I still bet the result would have been very different.
