I'm ok with trading Butler for a second and see signing Mccourty his smart and twin power will be ridiculous imagine the endorsements in Boston it will help offset any movie he leaves on the table to another club.

Rowe is still unproven, Coleman sucks, Cy Jones is a bust, and Jonny Jones is just a ST gunner…and nobody is suggesting paying serious money to JMac. If +/- $3M doesn't get a deal done, then good luck to him.
Oh Captain, My Captain.

This is IMHO an important factor. Gilbert, and both Jones', could use a steady senior presence as they work to fulfill their potential. Plus, as I stated earlier, a SB run and win calls for some roster turnover to provide an antidote to the fatigue and complacency that is human nature. And it would give his brother even more incentive to compete hard.

GilMORE, Chung, Harmon, and DMac are all vets on their second or third contract, and more than enough to help Rowe, CJ, and JJ and Coleman and Insert Rookie Here. And heck, butler, if he's still around (I hope) knows his role very well.

Team friendly deal for a vet like JMac? Sure. Even if Butler stays? Sure - can't have too many DBs!

It's certainly premature to call Jones a bust, but I wouldn't exactly call Rowe a seasoned, reliable vet.
He did absolutely fine as a CB2.

Why would we sign him just to put him on the bench?

Even if you assume he'd only be a CB3/CB4 type, let me try to help on why you might still want him signed, at a reasonable price. Note the bold:

i still have hopes for j jones. Rest of them you're right, as usual.

I could see them jettisoning some of their special team only guys for some guys who can actually play something else as well.

He did absolutely fine as a CB2.

I wouldn't really call what he did last year CB2. He was CB3 but played exclusively outside, which is pretty much what a CB2 does but not every snap. That being said, yes, he did fine. I don't think he did fine enough to consider him a stable asset.

Imagine if Cyrus gets it together and we keep butler and sign JMac what a secondary

Butler
Gilmore
Rowe
McCourty
Jones

The good captain called him "unproven". Please cite games and what you saw that would lead you to that conclusion.

I think it's kind of funny that the Pats would probably be signing McCourty to replace Ryan, when the Titans cut McCourty because they had replaced him with Ryan.
