Dont'a Hightower update: Steelers will pull offer if Pro Bowl LB leaves town, per report

This is what you do when you know your offer is not compelling: try to force the player into panic-signing. They know the Pats will match their offer, and I've gotta think that Hightower knows it too. If he signs with Pittsburgh in light of this info, it'll be purely an ego/face-saving move. I think he's smarter than that and will call their bluff.

ESPN New York reports the Jets are making an "all-out blitz" for free agent LB Dont'a Hightower.

It jibes with CBS' Jason La Canfora's reporting. Per reporter Rich Cimini, the Jets are willing to make a "blockbuster" offer to a player who had been seeking $12 million per season. Both La Canfora and Cimini report the Jets are offering the most money, but that Hightower still seems inclined to return to New England.

Good. Do it NY. This way they can overpay for a player that will never live up to it. Plus, tasting consistent losing will be EXACTLY what the triumverant of fans, players and Hightower himself will have earned and deserved.

I would hope he isn't that dumb to do it, but one never knows.

Maybe Belichick can get him a CookiePuss from Carvel. Then they can call it even.

They're whipping up a Banoffi pie as we speak.

Can you believe they sent a Jets jersey and merch to his mom? What other organization does the BEFORE the signing?

I hope this ends soon with him coming back to the Patriots. I was concerned he'd sign with the Steelers, but it seems to not be the case.

Didn't Baltimore want Hightower pretty badly too in the draft?
They certainly did! They would have pounced if NE didn't pull the trigger when they did, just like Gronk.

Lol at the jests. I have never seen such a miserable dumb franchise.

As much as I love Hightower and the pats, He is stupid not to take a monster offer, now if the jets offer him a 4 year contract, 56 Million with 34 million guarantee, he needs to think about his family and injury history and cash in now. Is the pats offer around 4 years, 40 million and 20 million guarantee ?

God what a pathetic franchise.

I think he was caught wearing a Ravens hat before the draft assuming he was headed there. Poor Ravens :p.

Pittsburgh said if you leave the offer is gone.. and High left.. Does that mean something good?????

I don't know where you pulled the $14million AAV from, but if the Jets offered him that, he should absolutely take it.

That much extra money for no reason benefits the Patriots for the next 5 years.

How do you know the pats only offered 20 mil guarantee?
