The forgotten man: Tre Jackson

What do people think about him? I know a lot of you guys know o line far better than me. Sorta up and down rookie season but was a stud in college. Could give us some great depth if he pans out unless he can compete with Tuney and Shaq who has great seasons.

Also Ray Lewis killed a guy.

Tre bien!

There's a critical piece of information we don't know: was Tre healthy enough to rejoin the team last year if needed? He had been working out on the lower field for awhile when the PUP period rolled around. The line was pretty healthy, so BB had 2 choices if Jackson was ready to play: activate Jackson and risk losing Karras to the waiver wire when they tried to put him on the practice squad or put Jackson on IR and have both he and Karras ready for training camp next season. BB obviously made the right choice if there was a choice to be made.

Maybe when official workouts start, we'll have a better feel for Jackson's health

well there was a thread about the other Tre..

Typical lumbering, injury-prone Florida State interior lineman.

Didn't want him then, still don't want him now…although, except for the potential of Jamil Douglas, what else do we have for backups? I wouldn't give a wooden nickel for Barker, Farris, Fleming, Karrass & Waddle - combined.

Sometimes we forget exactly how very, very fortunate we were that not one of our starters suffered a multiple-game injury. If I were Bill, I wouldn't count on that bit of lightning striking twice.

My understanding is he is decent and could have developed, but his knee is in bad shape. I think I remember his knee was one of the main reasons he slid so far, that it was basically bone on bone.

Can he or anyone else we already have play center besides Andrews?

I know that Karass had taken snaps at Center during TC (and maybe throughout the season at practices?) and that Mason had taken them for Dante during his pro day, but that's really it; thus my disappointment that Bill failed to sign C/LG Stefen Wisniewski.

When a guy has shown as little as he has through 2 years, I pretty much write him off by default. If he becomes a good player for us then that's great, but I'm long past anticipating it, and whatever hope I have for him mostly goes back to Scarnecchia. He's spent his career making guys with less raw talent look competent, and hasn't really had a chance to work with Jackson yet.

I like that he's on the roster. Gives me confidence in our depth on the interior line.

I am not sure what happened to Jackson's knee. It seemed that he was rehabbing for a full season, but as I recall, and am too lazy to look it up, he only had his knee scoped. When he played I thought he played better than Mason in passing situation, but Mason was a better run blocker.
I look forward to seeing him and Karras again this year, as both my show surprising improvement.

Jackson came out of college with a kne issue
