When I watched the Texans-Patriots playoffs, our OL was collapsing pretty fast with the way the Texans moved their DE's in the center...

My hope is to sign Nick Mangold. He should not cost as much as people think and I would believe he wants a shot at the SuperBowl....

I want them to sign Mangold to a 2-year deal. I think he's still an excellent player who would excel with the Patriots. He'd be a beast for NE, and I am sure they can afford him. From Miguel's reports, the Patriots could sign Hightower and Butler to Gilmore-like contracts and still have $20 million freed up (about $15 now with the Guy signing). They sign Mangold to a Guy-like contract and that moves Andrews to a backup role, where he'd be great.

In one swoop, Mangold would take NE's biggest weakness and wipe it away.

Everyone on the OL is good enough to win (after all, they did win), but Solder and Andrews could be improved upon. That being said, had Solder been a FA this week, he'd be coveted like few others were; the market is dire, and no upgrades are walking through that door for the foreseeable near future.

Center? Maybe Mangold would be a Brian Waters type pickup. Don't think he's signing anywhere until the summer.

OL is all set imo. Only thing I think we need is a young tackle in the draft.

I'd be interested in Pat Elflein out of Ohio State as an upgrade over Andrews, but Im not sure Bill sees it in the same light. Andrews has, overall, been quite solid. I definitely think Waddle will be replaced with a swing tackle that may be Solder's replacement next year.

Swing tackle is probably an area they'll look at, along with center. Also, I don't think anything is dire, but Solder's in the last year of his deal, so that's something to keep in mind.

Rumor is he will re-structure and extend Solder. This frees up more $$ and have him for at least 2-3yrs after 2017.

As a rookie, Thuney was the weak point. Project him to be much improved.

Andrews is fine. Plus he's young and cheap.

I'm not convinced Mangold is an appreciable upgrade.

OT is where the attention needs to be.

We have no idea what will happen with Solder

Mangold will be a BrianWaters type. A 7x pro-bowl. He got hurt last year. Otherwise is a durable very strong anchor. With him in, he can mentor Andrews.

Andrews is ok, but he will get pushed around with better pass rushers.. Center position is the shortest path to the QB. So, you need a stout person there. IMO.

Young oline who have made huge strides with Dante. Lot of learning to still be had, but yeah. Mangold would be nice. Not essential, but certainly a guy who could help out instantly. Andrews could learn a lot playing behind him.

Add by draft.....current inside has both guard 1st year in their spots ... they will be better

As for getting beat by Houston, this units wears opponents out...not much in the tank in opponents 2nd half

I'm ok with Andrews and then draft a center. I think Brady has developed chemistry with Andrews. I'm more worried about the guards and solder.

Please DO shore up the OL! Your QB is over 40 and his potential replacement is made of glass.
EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. my wife asks me "Did we get anybody to protect Brady?" I need this to stop ASAP.
Mangold would be a start. Then draft an OT?

Solder might be receptive to an extension. His son is sick and the family might like to remain near his doctors.

Brady was popped on 60+ % of the first half offensive plays in the SB.
Blount was repeatedly drilled in the backfield before taking his second step
Brady was mauled vs Houston.
Status quo doesn't work for me. There's only so much Gumby in TB12's guac filled endoskeleton.
Every coach deserves a new toy. Lets get Dante two.

I thought they won despite the O line last year. Even when the Pats made the incredible comeback Brady still got sacked a few times that could have been drive stallers. But they are young on the O line for the most part so I can assume they will get better. And to be fair that Texans game plan was pretty unique they sent every guy they had up the middle at various points. That would have been a tough task for any linemen.\

I don't think the O line was awful and I don't think it was great. It was decent.

Tre JAckson back, Thuney, Andrews and Mason 1 more year of experience. We will be a better line just because of that.

Mangold either starting or as a mentor to Andrews for a year or two.

IF JG is traded the #12 pick is a good place to pick up a LT/Swing Tackle to groom.
