. I thought I'd have to explain this one better.

I didn't mean "separation" in the sense of Dion Branch, Edelman, or Cooks. I meant that he's a difficult match up for man to man coverage, because even when he's relatively cover well, he can make receptions because of his size and the threat of his straight ahead speed.

We are all in trouble if you have to explain the football meaning of separation. That's my queue to hit the sack. Actually I do see why it was missed. Its the surrounding words, Sweet dreams Pats nation. I'm going to dream of TB 12 Mitchel/Cook/Gronk/Jules/Allen and Deon all on the same play in the same offense. Who to cover.

Who woulda thunk it that the day would come where Bill traded a 1st round pick for a wide receiver!

Funny to think of considering the constant debate about needing a legit #1 receiver and deep threat.

Kind of funny to think of who brady was throwing to in 2013 and the riches he will have next year.

You never know what to expect from belichick. Trading first rounders for legit wrs and giving big contracts to cornerbacks seems so out of line from where he was a few years ago

It really feels like they are going all in. Has shades of 2007

I don't know why people are so surprised. Brady is 40, you can't build a roster as if he's 27. If Brady can carry the team through some games that's great, but decline by year is not homogenous, it's more likely to be expressed in off games by Brady rather than visible, consistent skills decline.

In other words this team needs to be prepared for more and more games in any given year where Brady doesn't have his A game and needs more talent around him to get things done. That means you have to stack the D, get the best targets you can, buff the offensive line where possible to buy Brady the time to make plays he used to be much sharper on, and get more than a place-holder running back (although for that, I wouldn't mind seeing Legarrette Blount back on a fair contract, fumble in the Superbowl aside, Blount is a good power back as long as the deal isn't too expensive)

And if you look at where BB's loading up -- oh look, defensive secondary, run blockers, and a shiny new wideout. and he's aggressively exploring upgrades to the offensive line. Exactly what you need to make an aging quarterback as effective as possible. If the running back we come down with we *ARE* coming down with a new RB) looks liike he's designed to carry a fair share of the offense, then the picture will be complete.

Its different than what bb usually does. Leaving us wothout an nfl quality cb in 2011 or with only havi g edelman in 2013 as an nfl quality receiver.

In 2014 he seemed to shift paying revis and browner and getting vets like lafell.

This year seems to be on an even different level

I don't know why anyone buys that this team was going to trade Butler. They can give him his tender than season and then franchise him next, essentially it is a 2 year $18M contract.

If you ask me it was really as simple as them paying slightly more for Gilmore than it would have cost to keep Ryan.

I don't know how often this needs to be repeated. Because Gilmore doesn't play the same position as Ryan. Gilmore is an outside CB and Ryan is only good inside. It's like putting Chung in as FS. Not the same skill-set.

Cooks and Gilmore are this year's version of Hogan and Bennett. Guys who never even sniffed the playoffs ( maybe Bennett did his rookie year) going to a team that is a perennial playoff team and almost always a favorite to be there in February....
Something tells me they will enjoy playing in December when the games mean something for a change....

Great deal to get Cooks, felt Pats needed some like him to beat press coverage, especially with Gronk out. What will make it a super deal is if Pats keep Butler for a t least a year......and hoping Hightower, cause other wise we a bit light a LB (very light ie)

Right now I hate this trade, but it's a 50% movie, I'll wait for the conclusion.

Hes the best player Ive seen in years. Im serious. Last time I said that when I watched AP run. This kid has got it all. Hes touph, serious, endurance, speed, drive, determination, moves, blind sight. Hes really really good. Better julio jones of falcons, because he has RB ability after the catch. Cooks could be a very good RB. Thats unheard of for a WR. Hes elite in my book and can come close to some of the greats or maybe even beat them. I think BB saw what I saw. Im sure he was on the sidelines thinking wow how do we cover this kid. If the Saints had a D we'd be shredded.
Hes a game changer. Teams will have to respect him or get killed, because he will go all out every play and bullies CB's, you can see him push cornerbacks around.
Im thinking you got your 2nd Moss and young, he desurves the money, and NE is where he belongs.

Cooks is a winner so you can imagine doing 1000-1500 yds a year and going 7-9. He wants to win. Im sure hed play defence if it would help. Hes very diven and young but doesnt like to lose. His comments were general and said he loved everyone on the offense, loves Brees alot. So, I think it was him mad at defence and ST losing games. Dont worry hes a team player. I think he just gets frustrated that D keeps losing games and we have to put up 35pts to win.
Wait and see ok. Same as I was about blount Im about this kid

Speechless....just wow. They found a way to keep both.

Our Recieving core is going to be unstoppable.....our D is going to be filthy...feel like its XMas, lol

Love the Cooks trade. Absolutely loved him in the draft in 2014 and wanted us to pick him until he got out of reach. He is strangely young enough to be in this draft and would be taken mid first round now.

I don't see this as a go all in year. Cooks is for this but also for the future. Edelman and Amendola could both be gone after this year and Hogan is 28 (and also not a 80-100 catch guy).

Gilmore was a big move but was insurance for butler who its clear thePats are slightly frustrated with (from an extension perspective). I think they are fearing a reprise of the Jamie Collins situation - difficulty in signing him and having to trade him mid year as he became a disruption. They don't want to be left thread bare if that happens.

We have a real swiss army knife O. 2TE, FB, RB all the way to 4 WR, RB who is virtual WR.

The flexibility to match up with any team in the league.

It's good to be a Pats fan.

PS perhaps the rumors of Butler being traded will wake up Butler's agent so we can get an extension done.
