NFL Network they are discussing about possibly 49ers trading their pick to get JG.

Obviously I see them trade down, get some value picks, and then trade their first and maybe 3rd to the Pats for JG which BB might trade down further to get additional value.

If im the 49ers i want no part of this with a 6 year contract for Shanahan/Lynch i pick BPA at 3 and sign Mike Glennon as a FA as a band aid, they don't have to go all out and instantly put themselves under pressure trading the 3rd pick for a QB, they aren't in win now mode.

If only we had the supply to meet their demand...

Funny, though, I was thinking today how hillarious it would be if dealt Jimmy G to the Niners and he busted. Just reminds me, in name only, of the often cited Italian QB they took over TB, Giovanni Carmazzi. All while their own hometown boy surpasses records their franchise set.

Serious irony there, although I live in the Bay Area, so I would root for a win for both teams if they made this deal, but obviously not if they played head to head.

It's amazing how far the 9ers have fallen since that SB loss (that they should have won). I'm in the trade JG now camp so this would be an ideal landing spot from our perspective.

I know what you're trying to say, but in today's NFL, every coach is in win now mode no matter the length of the contract... unless you're Marvin Lewis. Lol

not sure why they wouldn't trade their whole draft for Jimmy

2 #1s. Either trade that or they are a lock to go 2-14 again.

Their choice

At this point I don't think they have anyone for JG to throw the ball to either. Chris Harper mayber?

Trading a bunch of picks for a QB who has no one to throw the ball to seems like a recipe for disaster to me. JG can't throw and catch the ball after all

Yeah, it would be a bad deal for he 49ers but I don't give a damn about them, if we get a high pick as the 49ers are offering then we get so much value by trading down and stock pile picks to help our team.
Team before anything.
It would give us so many picks to be able to fill some of the holes FA is causing.

It might be the right move to do for the 49'ers but if JG fails.. they pretty much lose there jobs. Its one thing to miss on a rookie who you own for 5 years.. its another to trade your top pick for JG who is going to get starting QB money.

If I was the 49'ers I would trade my 3rd over all pick and more to get JG, but it will take some balls to do it.

OTOH wtf Kapernick turned down his 14 mil dollar option year? Is anyone going to pay this guy? Is he crazy? Or am I missing something. Because from my perspective he is a back up QB.

If I were John Lynch I would trade the #2 pick for Jimmy G in a heartbeat (and not just because I'm a Pats homer and want a high pick). When you have the QB set you can turn things around quickly and I believe Jimmy is the only potential franchise QB available (if he even is available). I'm a huge believer in Garoppolo and I wish there was a realistic chance we could keep him long term given the information we currently have.

SF obviously has way more needs than just a QB though and their roster isn't exactly a great situation for him to succeed. The good news for them is they have nearly $100mil in cap space to build around Jimmy and an excellent offensive head coach. I think Garoppolo is a perfect fit for Shanahan's offense if they can give him some weapons.

Shanahan has 3 distinct types of WR for his offensive system. He likes a big, physical X receiver to be the focal point like Julio Jones. While he isn't going to find anyone like Julio, I think making a run at Alshon Jeffery would be their best option. Shanahan also likes a speedy Z WR who can stretch the field and create big plays (Taylor Gabriel). They already have a speedster in Torrey Smith on the roster and if he can stay healthy and rebound, he should be a good fit in this system. In the slot he looks for a dependable receiver who can get open on intermediate routes and move the sticks. Given their cap space, if I were SF I would try and package Jimmy with Amendola for the #2 pick. Gives them a solid slot WR that they can easily afford and someone Jimmy is already familiar with.

We saw how successful Atlanta was with a two headed RB attack. SF already has a power back in Hyde, now they could use a complimentary receiving back. Maybe they get lucky and McCaffrey falls to 34 and they can keep him close. Otherwise there are a lot of options in the mid rounds of the draft or they could sign a vet FA and see if they have anything left (Jamal Charles? Danny Woodhead? Jacquizz Rodgers?).

With all of their cap space they can heavily invest on the offensive and defensive lines. OG Kevin Zeitler and C Stefen Wisniewski would be immediate upgrades. While I would love to keep him on the Pats, a vet like Alan Branch would be a perfect fit for the 49ers. Grab a pass rusher or two in the mid rounds of a very strong draft and all of a sudden I think San Fran could compete in the NFC West.

Sorry to go off on a 49ers tangent, I just think they could turn things around very quickly if they made a bold move and went all in for Jimmy.

If the pats trade garoppolo they focus on getting a first next year from a bad team like San Fran. If the Patriots ever got the first overall pick next year, they could either A)most likely draft Sam Darnold
Or B) trade that pick for multiple first round picks plus more. Seriously even if the pick even is in the top 20 who cares.
