Based on his speech after the parade..i don't expect him to be back and us drafting a TE high this year...OJ Howard please

Bennett is past his sell by date...he had 4 or 5 impactful games this year and he was personally at fault for a bunch of Blounts negative runs...
Bennetts act is tired, go write ur books elsewhere.....i heard way to much of him talking about "Marty this, Marty that" after the SB... So long, don't let your crayons hit u in the Azz....

I would like Bennett back but for 3 year 15 million dollar deal. 10 mil guaranteed. I would do that. But he won't, he turned down 7 mil a year before the season so he is as good as gone. They won't up his offer.

I know Gronks Heath is always a concern, but why on earth do you want two expensive TEs?
Because = cap room. Duh.

In all seriousness, I can take or leave Martellus Bennett so I don't care either way. No matter how you look at it, they should consider addressing it in FA + the draft.

I want him back. Relying on the Lengels, Mulligans, and Hoomans of the world gets pretty tiring when Gronk goes down. His play reminded me of the Daniel Graham days. Solid in everything but isn't a super threat like Gronk so he is never really doubled etc.

Marty was a one year rental. We used him to win, he used us to win and promote himself so he can get paid. He's about to turn 30 I can't see us paying him big. I have no problem him leaving for a payday as long as he doesn't do a wleker and sign for prett much the same somewere else. Football is a business he gets that sometimes we forget that as fans.

I follow Bennett on twitter, a fascinating man.

If he stays for the right price sign him, but there are many other "creative" markets out there where he can ply his trade trying to negotiate with the Patriots in public is never a good choice..

Given his production, and what he's gonna get paid, why would anybody want him back...?

Yeah, why would anyone want a devastating two TE combination causing horrible mismatches? Certainly not the guy who spent two #1s on tight ends in the 2000s. I think BB has been looking for 2 TEs with size, who can both block and catch pretty much his whole time here.

There are people who are pretty creative with contracts too.

I can see him signing with San Francisco for big bucks. Pretty much the birthplace of coding and creativity. He can spend his off days in Silicon Valley. I thank him for his service, I wish him good health and good luck. It's not about winning for him, it's about what winning can DO for him. Even he said after the SB, teams overpay for champions, and that's all he cares about, kinda like Revis.

Kinda reminds me of Aaron Hernandez, not comparing people, because Marty is awesome and kind and caring. It's when Hernandez signed that contract extension, all he talked about was the money. Never about the team or them showing confidence in him, which is the usual normal classy comments, but nope, it was all about the money. I remember being turned off by that. Marty's money talk reminds me of that.

Marty was just joking about that comment around those greats and his brother and winning a superbowl of course his ego was boosted.

Marty's "brand"

Great guy. Gave the Pats and his teammates everything he had. Wish him the best in his future. If he still wants to play football I hope he plays here.

He was not "all about Marty" as some have suggested. He has a wry sense of humor and was just having fun in the moment.

I don't really know that Bennet was offered 7 mil or that he turned anything down. The media these days is nothing more than one giant gossip column.

I like Bennet as a player and I would take him back, but if he left for a bigger contract I would just wish him well and move on. He did his job.

I never have a problem with a player looking for a payday, their careers are pretty short.

Bennett did everything he was asked to do and never complained about his role would be happy to have him back.

Interesting to see his decision between what the Pats offer and his opportunity to build his brand here. plus the satisfaction of being on a team that 'appreciates' him as a player as well as being a good environment to ply his trade as opposed to getting more up front versus atmosphere, outside football opportunities and so on.

Wish him well no matter what.

At what cost? A lot of money needs to be spent on the other side of the ball.

Bennett is aging and wasn't "devastating" by any stretch of the imagination

We heard he was offered $7 million and turned it down. But we really have no way of knowing that this was true unless he or the Pats confirm it. I trust the most of the media that reports on the Pats about as much as I trust John Tomase.

With the cap going up, there are a lot of bad teams out there that need to spend money and there will be several suitors lining up to overpay MB. I am very grateful for the work he put in to this season. He worked his ass off, played hurt and in no way caused any type of negative distraction. I would like to see him come back on a 3 year deal for 5 per, with 10 guaranteed. Another poster mentioned these numbers and they seem about right to me.

With Gronks injury history, we need another tight end option that can both catch and block and in this day and age this seems like a very rare commodity in the NFL.

Marty is as good as gone as some idiot GM will make him the highest paid tight end in football. Or very close.
