I think it's safe to say Bennett is gone. Or very likely gone. Now i love OJ Howard and some mocks have us taking him. Outstanding player. But will he be there at 32 and would they take a TE that high?

Now if we get 12 from CLE or another 2st for Jimmy G we can play around and get Howard is he is really on the Pats radar but I wanted your thoughts on getting another TE because Gronk can't last 16 anymore...and this O needs a TE

Howard will be long gone. Jake Butt seems like a classic BB injured discount play in third/fourth.

Would love for Marty B to come back but he seems destined to fade off into the humid sunset of Jacksonville counting the dollars in his final big pay day.

As far as FAs, Gresham is somehow only 29 and could be had at 25% cost of Bennett. Fasano while older ticks the box of eyetie TE which we know BB has a soft spot for. Doyle is another younger option who collected some buzz last year.

Trade for CJ Fiedorowicz, should not be expensive and draft one in the 3rd or 4th round.

I still think they can make a deal with Bennett.

Pick up JG if SEA dumps him.

I would NEVER use our first pick (or second if we trade JG) on a TE. First of all i don't like Howard more than a guy like Butt. But that's only my pov.

In a deep draft like this we have to use our first picks on positions that we need to help right away and are not loaded all across the board such as ILB/OLB/DE

If we get extra picks for JG we could use a second on a guy like Hodges + a 3rd on Leggett or Butt

Jake Butt
Bucky Hodges
Gerald Everett
Jordan Leggett

It will be interesting, but don't see that happen.

my plan is to address the need via draft.
draft howard or njoku.
I really like Njoku, very explosive, but Howard is bigger and better all around (receiving+blocking). I think they both go in the first round from 12-25

The question is: considered they have Gronk, is TE position worth a first round pick?

Draft all day long. This is a deep draft for TE's.

I'm interested in seeing how Rob Housler will do even though he was out of football last season. If I remember correctly, there was interest when he was a free agent a few years ago.

TE is one of the hardest positions to try and map college production to success in the pros. I don't think there are any TEs worth taking in the 1st round this year.

As usual we need to let the board come to us and take the best player available, not where we think we have need.

Not sure that's "usual", we've taken a lot of TE early. Graham, 1st round. Watson, 1st round. Gronk, 2nd round.

TE is clearly a position Bill will take early with no qualms. And although it's a difficult position, the early rounders have all been successful.

Can we just pay a sure thing in Bennett and use the draft to strengthen the lines and draft secondary please.

As long as we can also pay DH, Ryan, Branch ect

Dola will be gone if he doesn't restructure so we could save some $$ there

I think Bennett only leaves if a good team offers him money, I find it hard to believe he'll go back to play for a mediocre franchise.

No thanks on Jimmy Graham BB

Rob Housler One Career TD in his Six year career thus far yikes o_O I prefer others.:p

I like Bennett but I don't want to pay another TE so much money. He's good but not really special and doesn't threaten defenses enough to warrant 7-8 million a year. The other problem is he's 30 years old and will want a 3+ year deal. Do we want that commitment?

I'd rather draft a TE in round 1 or 2 and develop them for less than 1 million a year for the next 4-5 years. Use the money we save to re-sign Alan Branch or Logan Ryan.
