Chicago's 3rd.

It will happen you just watch. It could even be more. There is too much smoke from a whole lot of reporters amping up the possible return and it's getting more and more plentiful.

Then 12 from Cleveland? Not good enough. If Jimmy G gets your team t0 8-8, 9-7 that's well worth the 3rd pick or better. Heck, the ticket sales will are that deal worth it.

Not a chance.

Only risk with that is we are basically giving up a 1st rounder. Jimmy will be a FA after next year, and if Brady's still looking good, we won't get anything out of Jimmy.
Sure you would. You would tag him and trade him like cassel.

there's something called the franchise tag......so you get buy an insurance policy for the difference between a 1 and a 2. you also buy yourself a 1 year opportunity to have your future QB in the event next year something happens to Brady at the age of 40

if Brady gets hurt, then I doubt any team could produce the draftpicks needed to get Garoppolo
You realize how much the franchise tag is for a QB?

Idk, tag is a lot more now than it was then. It just wreaks of a risky situation.
You think he can get a top 5 pick but you don't think a team would trade if he is tagged?
Tag is higher now because the cap is higher.

I think they should keep him in case of injury to TB. The rest of the roster is good enough to make the playoffs even without TB and anything can happen in the playoffs.

Any first is a steal. They aren't getting the number 1 pick or anything near that.

Ok the best part is we will see.
There's a reason some teams pick early every year. It's because they make poor decisions and hasty ones like overpaying in trades...Let's hope it continues....I think one of the Sisters of the Poor ( Cle,Chi, SF) will panic and give up a high draft pick...

I don't.
If there were a "can't miss" QB in the draft there could be a silly bidding war. But for a guy who no one was too excited about when he was drafted who sat around 3 years and played a game and a half I don't see it.

12, 33 and a 2nd next year
That's about right. People seem to be forgetting how well Garoppolo played in the Miami game before he got injured. He wasn't just good, he was spectacular. His great numbers don't really do him justice: he didn't make safe throws to wide open receivers who ran after the catch; he was throwing 25-yard darts into tight coverage. Even if the Patriots hold onto Garoppolo, they probably still will be able to franchise him and trade him next year for a 2nd or 3rd round pick. The difference between the #12 pick and a 2nd or 3rd round pick is probably not going to be franchise altering. Having a Pro Bowl or near-Pro Bowl level quarterback ready to go in the event of an injury to Brady could be. I trust Belichick to know Garoppolo's and Brissett's value. But if it were up to me from what I've seen, I wouldn't trade him for anything less than the 12th and 33rd picks or an equivalently attractive package.

No because I think it's very realistic that top 5 picks are in play for a young potential franchise QB.

The Miami game I was at had a lot of wide open receivers.

As great as it is to dream, I think we'll be looking at a Matt Schaub type deal.

I don't see John Fox trading away #3 when Jonathan Allen is likely to be available. I think Chicago offers the Patriots #36 plus future picks, or maybe tries to convince Belichick to take Alshon Jeffrey off his hands.

Cleveland, though, is loaded with picks, and can offer #33 and #52, along with a pick in 2018. The combined value of these picks is 960 points, which is in the 16th - 17th pick range. This is where the value will max out, and Belichick will be ecstatic to enter the draft with 4 picks between 32 - 64.

If it gets us Solomon Thomas, then hell yes.

I feel the #12 pick is a fairly high 1st rounder and worth the trade. It's easily equal in value to a low 1st and a 4th round pick which was the speculated price mentioned earlier in news stories.

But if a bidding war springs up, maybe we can end up with a top 5 1st round pick. It all depends on how badly Cleveland, San Francisco, Chicago, etc. want Jimmy G.

I've been thinking about this. Cardinals, Steelers, Chargers and Saints all have QBs that are long in the tooth (two of whom have been considering their future this off-season). There still might be a trade market for JG next off-season too.

It all depends on what BB thinks of JG, according to some reports some teams had Jimmy G as 1st round talent the year he was drafted. We did after all spend a 2nd round pick on JG.. I would be surprised if we don't get a mid 1st and a 3rd for him or something close to that.

This is probably unprecedented to have a 40 year old QB and trading away our potential future QB for a couple of draft picks that could potentially add up to 2 average starters.

Realistically Brady plays 3 more years if things go perfect 5 more seasons. And at what point does the drop off happen?

If and or when they trade JG I hope its for a lot in return.
