......and the Pats failed to convert third down, would the smart play still be to go for it on 4th down?

Obviously a successful conversion would mean game over.

But then it comes down to this. Would you rather........

A.) The Falcons have the ball at their own 1 but only need a field goal to tie.

OR

B.) The Falcons receive a standard kick off following a Pats field goal and need a 3 points to tie (and would be in four down territory prior to FG range).

THe other thing to consider in scenario A is that if the Pats defense were to hold they would get great field position in a situation in which a field goal would win it.

Obviously we're glad they didn't face this scenario, but just curious how you'd want the Pats to play the situation IF they did have to face 4th and goal in OT.

If his knee was down 1mm away from the end zone, Brady runs a QB sneak and gets a touchdown.

He springs up to his feet, spikes the ball so hard Goodell can feel it in his press box.

But yeah.... the way the momentum was going, you go for it on 4th down there.

I don't see an exhausted Atlanta line stopping Blount or a Brady Sneak once, let alone twice. I'd have had no problem going for it.

Wasn't that run on 2nd down? First was the incomplete pass to MB. So on 3rd down you sneak TB.

Yes it was.

I also think TB12 does the sneak on 3rd down.

4th and inches with the super bowl on the line? belichick goes for it - probably a brady sneak. if they don't get it, atlanta begins their drive from the half yard line. the defense can easily force atlanta to punt, and then brady drives us into FG range.

I see you didn't actually read my post, otherwsie you would see I prefaced with a 'and they fail to convert on third down'.

I think it wouldn't have mattered anyway. The Falcons offense couldn't do anything against this defense after the td to make it 28-3. The momentum was on our side. If we failed to convert a fourth and inches, the next played probably would have been a safety and the win.

A Brady sneak to win the Super Bowl would have been the only thing more epic than what actually happened.

Perhaps you are right. Maybe we should have wanted James White's knee to be down with the ball just short of hte goal line. Just kidding.

Brady gets in on the next play. They were not stopping him.

It's too bad they had to review it. A no-doubter-TD would have felt nice as a walk off TD. Oh well

Yeah I couldn't allow myself to get too happy until it was confirmed and then I saw Brady and Ryan shake hands, and I was like "F it, I'm gonna start running around."

my husband said some Atlanta fans posted "proof" on FB that White's knee was down before the ball crossed the plane

Yeah, I've seen a couple of them, they make the mistake that the plane is the back of the goal line but it is the front.

The Falcons were gassed and could not stop the Pats momentum. They would have scored on the next possession with most likely (as others have mentioned) as Brady QB sneak.

Bft. Blount force trauma x 2
