I woke up early this morning, flipped on the radio and heard an interview with Jim Grey on Going Deep. Grey couldn't stop gushing over Tom (we know that feeling) and what a great person and athlete that he is. Grey also mentioned that it was sad to see the treatment he receives considering anyone who has ever come in contact with Brady raves about the young man.

Grey also mentioned the Jets, Grigson and a couple of other players that lost tough games to Brady and that there might be some jealousy at work. That was when Amani Toomer jumped in with the classic line that "perception becomes reality" and Grey immediately went off on him about that statement and argued rightfully that perception is not reality.

I don't recall ever hearing anyone take such a hard response to an unfair criticism of Brady. Maybe there's a replay of it on line somewhere. It's a must hear for any Brady fan.

That goddamned phrase is beaten into the heads of every Army recruit from basic and throughout their Army career. Having worked in a Joint Forces environment, it's interesting that almost all the political backstabbing and drama happens among (current and former) Army members. I'm sure it's a coincidence.

"Perception becomes reality" = "We can make stuff up and repeat the lie often enough that the masses will believe it".

Amani Toomer = Joseph Goebbels on this subject.

Well done, young man. I'm sure the entire Toomer family is proud of you, Amani.

.

Toomer's been pretty disrespectful to Brady over the years.

Weird considering they're both Michigan alum and former teammates there.

Perhaps there's a past history between the two at that time?

Didn't Toomwr urinate on his wife/GF?

F this guy. He's not relevant. And it should have been OPI on the drive where the Gints put up their first three points.

The reaction of Giant players to Brady, in particular, and the Patriots, in general, over the years has been interesting. I assumed after having won two SBS that they would be sort of gracious. However, I find the opposite to be true. Almost to a man, they sound vindictive and jealous, reminding me of the Ravens. Even Strachan, who claims to be friends with Brady, takes less than veiled shots very often such as his ridiculous take on GMA right after DG began.

Well, the Patriots knocked off the Greatest Show on Turf in a huge upset, and then went on to form their own dynasty while the GSoT crumbled, eventually turning into the clown franchise we see today.

The Giants had a similar upset of the undefeated Pats in 2007, and then knocked them off again 4 years later with some of the same players. Yet the Pats are still standing tall, refusing to die, like Rasputin, and the Giants themselves crumbled before the Pats did. And of course Brady is the symbol of all that.

I can understand the frustration. *They* wanted to be the next big thing, it was *their* turn. The Pats made the Rams a footnote in history, and the Giants thought they were doing the same thing and ending the Pats' run. Instead, the Giants have turned into the afterthought in the public's eye; they're viewed as the Pats' kryptonite rather than a great dynasty of their own. That's got to bother some of the Giants players.

JC, that's a great analysis and theory. Never thought of it all in that way. Well-done!

I was thinking the same thing when I saw Toomer's name in the thread title. That was blatant and obvious OPI. The refs call that and it's a different game.

Yeah, good theory. I could also see the Giants thinking that Eli should be among the GOATs with those two wins, but it's pretty obvious he is the MAOAT (Most Average Of All Time) and will only be remembered for playing well over two four game stretches. That's more and more clear as time goes by, and here Brady is, back again in the Super Bowl.

I feel that's a very like talked about play in that game.

It's unfair, but perception IS reality.
