Super Bowl LI .. PRACTICE news & misc

Did you read that article about BB and Agents?

First question. Does your client want to win Super Bowls. Any player that leaves NE if they are still wanted for a bit more money is a certified moron. Plain and simple. I can go on and on. Branch. Givens. Seymour. That's just some.

So if you want to be paid, you get to play elsewhere. And lose.

Some people aren't all about winning. Some are just all about playing. They'd rather be able to play 90% of the snaps and lose than play 50% of the snaps and win. And of course some just play for the money. I wouldn't call them morons, they just don't have the priorities the Patriots (and that we as fans) want. Not a value judgement; there's nothing evil about that. Roger Goodell, now that's evil. This, on the hand, is just different priorities.

I lived in Ft.Myers for awhile and I remember one of the 7-11's handing out free hot chocolate when it was about 55 degrees and raining, once. Still cracks me up thinking about it.

The struggle is REAL. mid-50s tonight. Several more days of this and we might have to turn the furnace on for the first time this winter! Plus today I wore a LONG-SLEEVED shirt. Makin' my arms all itchy.

I think that's hard to project at this point. He didn't have the kind of statistical season that is eye opening at first glance. But he did other things that might be, like blocking and playing through multiple nagging injuries. Will a team drastically reach for that financially, or will the offers stay within a reasonable reach to how the Pats value him? Marty has repeatedly talked about this being his best experience, and that was long before the SB berth. But is that ultimately enough to take a little less to stay, if it comes to that? Only he knows that and we know he marches to the beat of his own drum.

I don't think his presence in the locker room can be understated when talking about his prospective chances of staying/going. Let alone how much he's done in the Boston community in this short time. He's said his kids/wife/family love it here; you can tell he does simply by his reaction to winning the AFCCG. Is all of that fake? Sure it could be. But I'm inclined to believe a guy like him, who tells it just as he sees it, is not one of those "fake it 'til you make it" guys. He's been around this league long enough and he has been on plenty 'o teams to know how hard it is to get to/be in this position. I'd bet money he is not a Revis-type player. Nothing wrong with getting your money while the getting is good...but I don't think he leaves.

I certainly hope you are correct, Atomic. We all would like for him to stay, I'm sure. Only Bennett knows truly. We'll see how it plays out. The one certainty is we have him for one more game at the very least.

I was shocked to see mid-50s in Clearwater today.

I personally start wearing hoodies at 70F...

Pats fans really are all over.

One of the young guys in my unit is from NC and a Pats fan. He has no connection to New England; he just likes the Pats, probably because they're winners. It's weird to think, but New England is like the Cowboys, Packers, and Steelers now...fans all over.

Brilliant.

How long before some idiot media outlet (ESPN perhaps) spins this and makes it about how the arrogant Patriots are already doing victory laps and especially trolling the city of ATL and their fans?

2016 NFL Draft Profile: Jonathan Jones

Just a thought: That reports reads like "How to defend Taylor Gabriel." He's also easily the fastest player on the team. Remember him from TC/preseason?

Jones: Butler/McCourty
Gabriel: J. Jones
Sanu (slot): Ryan

seems better than:

Jones: Rowe/McCourty
Gabriel: Butler
Sanu (slot): Ryan

Maybe we have a Butler 2.0 in the SB

Last night, I was reading some of the pre-SB49 threads (since I wasn't around then) and one of the threads was asking for predictions on an unsung player playing a key role. Though a few people got Vereen right, no one mentioned Butler.

Jones has seriously impressed me on special teams. I didn't really notice him until I was at the Christmas Eve Massacre and saw him in person. He has serious wheels and a lot of hustle. It would be awesome to see him have a great game, and against one of the guys I think could be a pain in our ass if we are able to slow Jones down.

The thing that people here kinda ignore with their coverage predictions is that a lot also depends on how many WR Atlanta puts out there on each snap.

I think depending on which of the Atlanta WR are on the field I think we will have a mix of everything on Julio Jones: Ryan/DMac, Rowe/DMac and sometimes maybe even Butler in single coverage.

That being said, I doubt that Jones (CB4) will be on the field much outside ST unless someone (Rowe ?) starts to stink it up like Arrington against the Seahawks (or someone gets injured).

I have a Butler feeling for Mingo @LI for some time (maybe not so utterly decisive . but some sort of splash).

Mingo never plays on defense so that seems unlikely. Too bad, we could use his speed and athleticism in the short middle in this game but something must be missing.
