What was nice to hear today was,

The Pat's practiced in pads Thus, walkthrough Fri, Practice Sat and Sun, leave for Houston Monday.

The Falcons practiced Fri, none Sat and leave for Houston Sunday.

Someone may be dotting more I's and crossing more T's.

So you're one of those guys who continue to suggest that the Pats win because they work harder and smarter than other teams, when everyone KNOWS that it is because the Pats cheat.

Hope this isn't a one-night stand....
I think that's hard to project at this point. He didn't have the kind of statistical season that is eye opening at first glance. But he did other things that might be, like blocking and playing through multiple nagging injuries. Will a team drastically reach for that financially, or will the offers stay within a reasonable reach to how the Pats value him? Marty has repeatedly talked about this being his best experience, and that was long before the SB berth. But is that ultimately enough to take a little less to stay, if it comes to that? Only he knows that and we know he marches to the beat of his own drum.

To me its becoming closer Mahhty stays/they keep him.

Reasons he goes:
  • he wants more money, guaranteed, seasons etc.
Pats may be in best position to offer that since they are in best position to evaluate his value. Only they know exactly what injuries he went through, how much they affected his play and what they mean for him going forward. Remember he is scheduled for operation after the season. Other teams might be cautious regarding his health, age and also production (regardless of injuries). Its true that its a weak TE FA but most teams have many needs probably bigger than TE and less money than Pats and its a deep TE draft.
  • he wants to play with his brother
I dont' think that's realistic. SEA have Graham at $10M cap hit and many holes to fill esp. at OL.
  • he wants a new experience
He is an adventurer but I doubt he'd like to join a losing team to end his career . and those are in best position to compete with Pats. The most realistic threat probably comes from Oakland (although they have a few big FAs of their own) but I guess if BB decides he wants another year of Bennett it shouldn't be to difficult to strike a deal.

Jones returned to practice for Atlanta on Friday.

Even in jest, give that storyline a rest, will you?

It's true. I'm a native New Yorker living in FL and laughing my @ss off at the Floridians. We're preparing for a cold front. High tomorrow is expected to be 65. Lol
I lived in Ft.Myers for awhile and I remember one of the 7-11's handing out free hot chocolate when it was about 55 degrees and raining, once. Still cracks me up thinking about it.

If the reports are true and he passed on 7m dollars a year, he may already have one foot out the door.

Personally, I don't really care either way. In BB we trust.

I do remember reading that. Players want to be paid. Period. And why not? Few sports ravage the human body like football. If I have brain issues to look forward to in my twilight (among other unpleasant physical and/or mental ailments), why not earn as much as my perceived talent level demands while I can enjoy it? I'd love to say winning is all that matters, and maybe that'd be true in a perfect world, but alas, this isn't a perfect world. Lol

Did you read that article about BB and Agents?

First question. Does your client want to win Super Bowls. Any player that leaves NE if they are still wanted for a bit more money is a certified moron. Plain and simple. I can go on and on. Branch. Givens. Seymour. That's just some.

So if you want to be paid, you get to play elsewhere. And lose.

I believe it was subsequently clarified that it wasn't 7 million a year, it was 7 million for one year (i.e. a one year extension), and that he was looking for a longer term deal. Still could have one foot out the door, but I don't think it's as ominous as the original report sounded.

I did read that article and I understand the point about winning. My point, however, is that there is more to it than that for some players, whether you like it and agree with it or not. Different players ultimately have different motivations. The overall premise of the article was in part that winning gives BB leverage, but not every player or agent will choose to come here, even if it means never playing in a SB.
