Atlanta's Defense

Defense wins championships.

I'm trying to think of the last time Pats fans would say that. It had to be during the first half of the dynasty.

Atlanta D isn't going to matter according to Freeman. He said the Falcons will be able to do what ever they want on O.

Que the chicken littles to jump in and somehow try to talk this stat into being misleading like the falcons ranking near the bottom in every other category.

What's a chicken little? I see the term once in a while but what exactly does it mean?

That is according to their entire fan base too.

An overused term that is thrown around extremely loosely, cringeworthy when seen in a sentence, and used by those who would rather pretend everything is sunshine and rainbows than hear even the slightest bit of insight/analysis that is seen as negative.

If Patriots approach this game by trying to control the ball with long methodical drives and keep Matt Ryan off the field, there is potential for Falcons offense to be marginalized. If the pace of the game is slow then all it takes is 2 or three stops on defense and the patriots will win this game.

So the narrative now is to keep Ryan off the field? It used to be "Keeping Brady off the field". I absolutely love it.

I guess i was wrong and Atlantas defense is an unstoppable force. Give me a break.

There is constructive insight. But what I've seen this Atlanta defense built up as is just ridiculous. You cant say stats dont matter for everything

Add in that their fans think their O is unstoppable and we might as well just not show up.

I am very concerned about 2 things:

Will we have a slow start on offense after a week off?

Will the Atlanta defense get to Brady?

If the offensive line keeps Brady clean, we will put at least a 35 burger in them.

I don't think the ATL D has the personnel or experience to pull that off.

I think he's a good coach but Quinn's D is what it is.
Agreed. One of the biggest knocks on Atlanta's defense as things stand is the inexperience of the secondary and how that leads to miscues or being a step behind because they're having to think about what they're doing. Trying to change things up is likely to be a losing proposition because they're unlikely to throw anything at #12 that he hasn't seen before, and knows how to beat. In fact I'd love to see Quinn trying that. To me it would be saying he knows he can't be the Pats with what got him to the big game.

Or alternatively, describes people who can't deal with even a little bit of adversity, think that everyone on the coaching staff sucks because we aren't blowing people out 45-3 each game and usually have no ****ing clue of the sport they are watching beyond the fantasy level.

Generally there is ZERO insight coming from people like that because that would actually require an understanding for whats happening on the field beyond "player x sucks", "we need more runs.. Josh sucks" and "why did we pass here.. Josh sucks".

**** them.

I have been watching the 2014 SB just for the hell of it and noticed that Sherman was a lock down corner but Jules abused the other cornerback all day. Also, Vereen had a good day against Wright. It also looked liked the Seahawks had better luck playing Zone against the Pats than man to man but that is just based upon my observation. Can anybody confirm that?

So, as the HC of the Falcons was the DC of the Seahawks, I wonder if they will play a similar scheme. In that case, I wonder how the Falcons match up with the Pats. Who will cover Jules? What LB mis-matches will they look for to get Lewis and White the ball? With Gronk, in that game, it looked like if he was one on one with anybody except Sherman, Brady went to him. I wonder if he will do that with Marty.

I also noticed Brady had lots of luck moving straight up in the pocket. Will he be able to do that against the Falcons? Where does Beasly get most of his sacks?

None of Atlanta's wins are very impressive. They lost 5 and won 3 easily but the rest were anybodys game.

I would disagree. Winning in Denver is always a good win as is a game with the Seahawks. The win against a red hot Packers team was impressive.

The same was said against the 2001 patriots team with their 24th ranked defense.
