Post Game Thread Texans @ Pats....Onto the AFC Championship Game

I understand many people being nervous last night with everything happening that everyone said had to happen for Texans to win, but man I don't get some of the stuff I read in game day thread.....Brady sucks, this team is pathetic, only the comments were worse than that. I had to get out of thread after awhile.
I was nervous too, but would never make comments like that about this team after all they've given me as a fan.

Agree. If anything, it made a game that was supposed to be a "cakewalk" that much more entertaining

I love Amendola and he is coming off an injury, but down 2 WRs in that game, he needs to show up better. 0 receptions is not going to cut it.
This is a joke, right ?

There haven't been many nail biters this postseason so far... imagine : those games yesterday were light years ahead of last weekend's games.

Anybody hear the comment from Nantz whatever his name is. At the end of the game he said the Patriots are a team way under the salary cap as if that should disqualify them from winning. What difference does ot make?

I am not totally comforted by this. Sometimes a bad performance can motivate improvement - sometimes it is a tell. See the 2008 AFCCG. Little running game - receivers besides Edelman (and Hogan) not getting separation. Hopefully this was just due to superb Texans defense.
I hear you. There are times when you are just not good enough, too hurt, outmatched, whatever. I'm not saying that will be the case this year. But.. it feels funny saying it with that final score, but the Pats were absolute **** last night. horrible. They literally NEEDED Houston to **** all over itself to win that game last night and thankfully they did (INTs Oz sucked, etc) We turned the ball over 4 times in a playoff game and yet won 34-16. Houston SUCKS. I mean they suck very badly on offense. We are alive purely and only by who we were playing. I see the Pats as kind of on life support at the moment until they show something else. This was not the 2014 Ravens we were playing.

All that said it would not shock me to see the Pats spank either the Steelers or the Chiefs next week. Sincerely, that could happen as easy as anything else, but only if they get mean and nasty off this pathetic "win".

I think it was a compliment. I remember the comment and it was in the context of the Pats having sustained success and that being under the cap was remarkable. I actually think BB likes to be significantly under the cap because it gives you crazy flexibility (I.e. Floyd)

It is amazing how smart you need to be to manage a football team, sincerely. There is a reason that Ernie Adams and all kinds of numbers and math geeks are friends with Belichick. When it is all said and done I would love those two (Belichick and Adams) to co-author a book. The thing about those guys is it is not just what they do, but it is they themselves, their brains. Not every can even do what they do, so sadly it may not be something they can "pass down".

Lots of disappointing plays last night but the one that stood out to me was when they failed to score at the end of the 1st half. Not sure why they didn't call a QB sneak there.

Other than him coming off an injury - why is this a joke?

He is returning from injury, and only played significant minutes after Hogan went down. I would say this game was only to "get him ready for upcoming games" & in an emergency role. Further : his role has been diminished this season as others pass him on the depth chart, so I'm not sure your expectations are at the right level.

I am not disappointed in DA's game. He'll play hard & come up big at times. That is what he is & I like him.

THey are easing amendola back into the lineup. expect to see more snaps from him next week.

This play & the Rowe penalty were discouraging. Amazing that an 18 point second round of the playoffs win is dissapointing. We are spoiled.

Ok, thats folklore.
1. It was still a win last time I checked.
2. A win - and especially playoff win - should be celebrated.
3. Texans are football players too. (maybe not #17 but I digress)
4. This performance was exclusive to this game. It was good enough to win.
It will not be repeated .. because it can't.
5. Like mentioned before: its the best win for the coaches - to keep improvement mantra going.
It also showed where it still leaks. D looked great but still has to face elite offense. In the larger picture Steelers would be better than KC to have a final test for D as well (check for possible leaks there) .. since elite O is waiting in SB.
6. They had a long streak of clean games, complementary football. One sloppy game doesn't mean they are less ready than they were a few weeks ago.
7. AFCCG has nothing to do with this game no matter who they face.
8. The team will be in full strength (minus Gronk of course) and focused on cleaning up their act.

Let's go!

And they still matched the 16-point spread...hell, even surpassed it

Compliment or passive aggressive, to feed into the "they don't pay guys in NE" theme. I couldn't tell. But the randomness of it and the fact that it just isn't true is cause for suspicion.

it actually is true, that is by design to have room under the cap.

BB should give Rowe a pass on this. Terrible ref reasoning there. Rowe was trying to make sure Butler wasn't going to be injured by the Texan who was spearing him in the pile. .

Funny how that ref watched the Texans player come running in after the whistle but Rowe trying to clear the guy out is the one that gets flagged.

Think it's the same ref that somehow "missed" the helmet to helmet hit on Lewis.

Pretty much sums it up. The margin of victory vs Houston for this game was second to only... the Patriots. This is inspite of some uncharacteristic play, which is uncharacteristic for a reason.

Apparently some fans are worried that despite 15 years of history the Patriots are going to make a habit of making mental errors and playing sloppy.
