People on here are ridiculous...

"2nd bye week"
"Rest starters"
"Easy game"
"0% chance Pats lose"

The amount of ****iness on here is unsettling. Remember 2010? How about last year against the Eagles? How about the AFCCG against the Broncos, and how everyone said it was nothing like 2013 and 2015 is better and the Broncos arent good and Forehead would throw picks?

Just because the Texans are vastly inferior to the Pats doesnt mean it is another bye week. Take the damn game seriously. All It takes is one game, just one game, and their amazing seasons over.

Yeah, I pointed out the Eagles game from last year in another thread, and people here were very quick to catch feelings over my "negativity"

You'd think by now, we'd be able to talk about those previous upsets without being labelled, "****less, chicken littles"

Most reasonable posters understand the "on any given Sunday" rule applies to any opponent. Stating a loss would be impossible to any team in the NFL is absurd.

Lecturing fans to "take the game seriously" is also ridiculous. If you believe what you think or do, as a fan, plays out on the field, then you probably need a reality check. You can be as negative or positive or absurd in your views of an upcoming game as you want to be, and the game will play out based exclusively on the preparation and execution of the coaches and players on the field. You are a spectator, not a player or coach.

Damn, so you mean that the fully padded gassers that I've been running in my living room don't have an impact on the game? I'm shocked... and honestly a little offended. I may report this post.

By the way, for the newbies, the board wasn't taking the Jets game lightly in 2010. Some were, but not to this effect. Actually, people were saying they were nervous.

If I were Brady I would wear the helmet backwards for a play on a 3rd and 10 just to prove that I'm the goat.

I see you haven't responded to any posts in this thread but I have an honest question.
What is wrong with fans being confident, why does it bother you, why does it matter?

Yep, I remember the talk of trying to beat the same team three times and such.

I see a bit more nervousness this week than is warranted, actually. That's not saying there's no chance for Houston to win, but the stars and planets would have to align.

And why does a game that happened seven years ago has any bearing on this game?

Exactly. Most Pats fans thought they would win the game but that it would be a much tighter one than the previous contest. A lot of us cited the first game. The posters that, at the time, were not high on the defense cited that as being a weakness and a reason for the tight game. This is a completely different situation. The ONLY reason Houston is here is because they played a team with their back-up quarterback who openly admitted that losing Carr was as deflating as it gets (some said the Colts win felt like a loss). The Pats are the vastly superior team and it would take A LOT going wrong for the Pats and A LOT going right for the Texans for this to be close.

Damn, and I was planning on just sitting on my couch, eating a bunch of junk food, and drinking 15 beers during the game. But now I have to take it seriously??
You have had all season to get in shape, and the best you can do is 15 beers?
Yup, we're in trouble alright.

I think his point is heavy favorites can lose. I'm just not sure why he thinks fan confidence matters

I'm wondering if he should throw left handed all game.

Maybe we can have the defense play offense and the offense play defense.

God I can't wait til the Pats blow the Texans out the water so we can stop with the fake worry. The Patriots won't lose. Easy game. No chance. Next ****ing topic

why unsettling? It's just a game. If they lose nothing changes for any of us same if they win, except it's more fun. Nothing to fear or be unsettled about. If fans want to be ****y thats fine it has no impact, and it is part of the way they experience the fun of fandom and the product.

I think the Pats could win this game even if we let Vince Wilfork switch uniforms and line up for the Texans.
Maybe Brady could play QB for both teams.

None of that applies to you, Kontra. Just keep being who you are, because they do hear you.

Just remember to watch out for the anger sharks.

Anyone who thinks we should rest starter is an idiot. Thankfully, the Patriots aren't idiots so their stupidity will be ignored in much the same way that every draft, you would think every player would be working in McDonald's inside a year if you took elements of the board and their opinions seriously.
