Jadeveon Clowney gives the Texans their only realistic chance of pulling off an all-time upset at New England on Saturday night. Nobody on the Patriots can block the third-year dynamo; they’ll have to neutralize Clowney schematically. Fortunately, that’s what this offense is set up to do. #1 Pats have a bad day
#2 Lucky bounces

One of my sports apps had an article about what Houston would need to do to win.

One was follow the Broncos defensive blueprint from the AFC Championship game.

Ok, I'm so far beyond tired of people saying a certain team laid out the blueprints for how to beat another, as if all teams have equal rosters and the ability to execute said blueprints.

So all Houston has to do is use their lockdown corners to smother the Pats WRs, and their DEs need to get to Brady within 1.5 seconds consistently. It's so simple.....

I only glanced at the article, but it doesn't seem like he noticed that Donald Penn was out at LT for the Raiders. Isn't that a big reason Clowney had such a good game against the Raiders?

Solder susceptible to a loop rush occasionally, but he's gotten better against that technique his year.

Doesn't 5 across leaves you susceptible to the usual dig, seam slant and hitch routes if you bring all 5?

This is lazy analysis. One player on the other team is not 'the only realistic chance' of beating the Patriots. That's more of an NBA thing where one player can dominate and take over a game; I don't think it ever happens in football, except maybe when the QB gets really hot. Clowney's not gonna have 10 sacks or anything like that. For Clowney to have an impact will require the Houston secondary to also play well, etc.

This is a Skip Bayless-like take where the name recognition of a player leads to the analysis focusing on that player and not going any deeper.

Also I guess I'm missing where we have a 'more expansive screen game'. How many screen plays do we run in a game? 3-4 at most? Is this 2004?
