So if reports are true Mcdaniels has his sights locked on San Fran. Reports from San Fran Chronicle say that Mcdaniels likes the fact its a storied franchise has a high pick and he can work with a new General manager.
Caserio is interviewing and this seems like a done deal.
Really good friends combine the glowing accomodation that BB bestowed upon Caserio.
I feel Caserio has been excellent and San Fran raiding us.
BB better coach here at a high level for at least 10 years.

You are making a huge jump to a conclusion.
First they have not offered the job to McDaniels and are interviewing others.
Second, there is no confirmation that Caserio is even interviewing, and they are interviewing others.
3rd, some SF sportswriter saying he know what McDs preference is BEFORE HE EVEN INTERVIEWED is a bunch of hogwash.

Caserio has done a great job here and deserves consideration for GM openings. Its the price of success, and we will have someone ready to take his spot.

The latest I saw out of San Fran was that Caserio hadn't returned their call:

Fingers crossed on this one. Nick would be a huge loss. Bigger than losing the coordinators.

Would be great but if Josh leaves who is Nicks BFF I wouldnt count on Nick Staying here.
Unless his loyalty to BB and Kraft is strong

Well if the patriots didn't reply to Matt Barrows -- and he called several times -- during playoff preparations then there must be nothing there.

Lousy ownership in SF. Only the desperate should take a job there.

Regards,
Chris
SF would absolutely be last on my list of possible openings. If McDaniel goes there he's learned nothing from his time in Denver.

You think Harbaugh ruffled some features in SF. How do you think BB would fare there? I would be surprised if Josh interviews with the 49er's.

The key to taking a job as coach there is to:

  1. Get a 4+ year contract that has a poison pill provision that spikes your money if you get fired early
  2. Get your preferred GM in place, preferably with a similar poison pill provision in his deal
  3. Get permission to trade any/all picks in order to bring in your QB of choice
  4. Get assurances about the ability to "spend! spend! spend" order to rebuild the team
If you can get that, you're probably looking at a pretty plum job. York, if he has any intelligence at all, is going to be loathe to get too quick with the hook this time around.

If you can't get that, call Fitzy and have him give them your answer.

He already had his interview according to san fran chronicle and it went very well for both sides.

Given the current culture of SF/San Jose fans (yuppies just like NYC) and the current 49ers "ownership", the only HC who could survive there is Pete Carroll. A hard nosed football coach like anyone from BB's tree won't last in that atmosphere.

I agree to a certain extent. There are only 32 GM jobs in the NFL, 31 if you count that BB is GM at the patriots. This is a case of supply greatly eclipsing supply. Whether the candidates are good is irrelevant. If you don't jump at a change to be a GM at a certain point in your life, someone else might take it and potentially might do a great job. Of course, you don't go in blind. But at that level, every candidate who applies has belief that s/he is capable to doing a great job.

What should the fanbase have to do with anything? I'd be a whole lot more concerned about having to work for Jed "I earned this team by being born" York.

No kidding? Who the hell does he think he is?

Isn't the title of this thread Stating the obvious"? If on the other hand u don't think it sucks then I wonder what the hell youre doing on this board?
