Boycott Tomase WEEI

WEEI has somewhat lost me after opting to not renew Chris Price's contract recently. Really disappointed to read about that, and it sounds like they're "going in a different direction" online. He's one of the best and that one really kind of stuns me...just an awful decision IMO.
With all due respect to Mike Reiss, Tom Curran, Jeff Howe and a very few other, Chris Price has been in my opinion the best Patriots writer for a while now. To opt to 'go in a different direction' speaks alarming volumes about their future business plan.

I'll still never forget when Belichick went off and said just that during that epic Saturday press conference. There were no cameras behind closed doors, it happened right in front of everyone and as he also pointed out, other teams were also doing it yet people act like they were the only ones. Ridiculous
Yes, I should have mentioned that . But, it was liberating to finally hear BB address that. I just wish he would have pushed the point further. We've been shouting this at our TV for many years. And just like BB's comments, it blew away in the wind. Nobody remembers that , but the intelligent Pat fan. It's so frustrating. RK should have been shouting that on the mountain top!! But, God forbid he lose any footing he has in the "boys club"

People are just mad.. they know that even if they win the Super Bowl.. its like damn the Patriots have won 2 seasons worth of playoff games and have been to 6 Super Bowls and many AFC Championships.. Since TB/BB took over the show. Jealousy.. plain and simple.

On another note. Honestly they need NEED to name a big time award or trophy after Belichick. The Belichick "Coach of the year" or something. Or the Belichick/Lombardi Trophy .. I am ****in serious the guy deserves it.

He said a lot more than that during that press conference. I went back a few weeks ago and re-read the transcript and that will go down as one of his best moments as coach here in New England. They only even held that press conference because they were frustrated over the rumors that were swirling (and as we found out later, they were also likely aggravated over the lack of action by the NFL to try and dispell them) and felt "we needed to say something". I thought he handled the entire situation about as well as he could have and it was great to hear him be as candid as he was and attack that reporter when he brought it up. But you're right, it's definitely frustrating and too bad it fell on deaf ears outside of New England.

WEEI started losing me with Minihan and Thornton ... they are just too narrowly focused on the topic of the day.
I now listen more to Sirius radio ...
used to watch some Felger & Mazz when working at my desk but they are out also ... both stations suck.

For me, the on-demand part of the WEEI app is basically where I've started to live. I use that to listen to Brady, Belichick and the player interviews along with a handful of their guests and cherry pick some segments. I definitely don't listen live as much as I used to unless there's a major story going on that I'm trying to keep up with. But the convenience of being able to pull out exactly the topics I'm interested in is a positive and allows me to at least hear what I need to. I'll give them credit, the app does make that part of things easy. Otherwise, I use the bluetooth on my phone through my radio so much now between podcasts, etc...it's funny how that aspect of things is starting to change and it's definitely affected how I listen to the radio in general.

And also fell on deaf ears within the team owner's office.

Ever since it first came up, I said: I've been going to football games since I was a baby. At every single one, high school, college and pros, both sidelines are clearly visible to people in the stands - and at home on TV.

Yet, on 4/1/08, after everything, Kraft stands blubbering in front of his peers about respecting them, apologizing and acknowledging that the Patriots "damaged the league" - yet again.

Instead of saying "You miserable wretches lose because you're losers. The only mistake I made was to take anything you and your minions have to say seriously, when I went along with your puppet destroying my team's identity after being here for five minutes. The New England Patriots' real logo and uniforms will be worn by OUR team permanently from now on, and you can take back that stupid ugly impostor flying elvis that you've enjoyed wiping your feet on and flush it down your toilet, or better yet shove it up your asses."

Agreed 100%. And it seems like he knows it's the end with EEI because he's been posting his "greatest hits" on his own blog on Tumblr (Sportswriter Dad) and it makes me mad that they want to go in a different direction (when we all know what that is....less meat & potatoes and more fluff).
Chris Warner wrote this about CP and Pete Sheppard on the NFL Sunday show, and I couldn't have put it better:

Right now on NFL.com the latest Patriots related video from today has some idiot ex-NY Giants player saying "They've actually cheated, I mean they've looked at other teams practices" repeating the stupid Tomase fallacy.

Amani Toomer on Patriots legacy: 'Spygate was a big deal'

I debated over watching that, decided to and the best thing I can say is that it was short.

In just under 2 minutes, Toomer manages to:
  • Repeat the lie (unchallenged, by the way) about taping practices. It's been almost a decade, and he doesn't have command of the basic facts of the situation.
  • Give credence to a totally unsupported claim by Eagles players that they were cheated in SB39. No one from the Eagles can point to anything suspicious, like, say, a team seeing someone with a camera in a hotel overlooking a practice field, and no one said anything about this until 2015. That may be the most out-of-date can of sour grapes, ever.
  • Be totally fine with the idea that the NFL punished a team 10 years ago, saw that the record punishment (at the time) didn't derail that team and waited for the smallest excuse to heavily punish them again. In his mind, this is completely normal and fair conduct.
Something I didn't realize until today is that both Brady and Toomer went to Michigan. They had a brief overlap as Toomer's senior year in '95 was Brady's redshirt year. I wonder if Toomer came back and was on the sidelines to watch Michigan win bowl games in '98 and '99 with Brady as QB. I wonder if he realizes his crapping on Brady's accomplishments is going to make alumni get-togethers awkward.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand that's why I hate the corrupt POS Tomase. He isn't even one of the mediots I "love to hate" whom I listen to and read anyway.

With Tomasshole, I just don't read his articles and if he's on the radio I simply change the station.

I am convinced with maybe 2 months of training, I could do a better job than Mazz. I really believe that too, he is lucky to have such a cushy job.

Here's that part for anyone that missed it before

Why not boycott sponsors and Tweet them to let them know why. #ftomase
This!! I once called a retailer about a spot he was running on EEI using Tomase. I told him that he was not helping his business by using Tomase and that Patriot Nation has a long memory and still hates the guy. They stopped running the promo as far as I know. Tomase probably got paid for the spot, but he will not be getting a renewal.

Can't stand that tub of lard. I stopped listening to WEEI a long time ago. Thank god for satellite radio and podcasts.

OT, but this seems like a good place to ask this. I just got a new vehicle which has a free 90 day satellite radio trial. Any suggestions on using it and if it is worth the $20 + per month subscription cost?

I have never had satellite radio before.

Listen to the excellent "Moving the Chains" on NFL radio. Other shows on that channel good too.
We felt that the other stations were not to our taste and dropped it after several months.
Only miss the NFL talk.
Stream Pandora, etc. to my car radio instead.

I've had it in both of my vehicles for about 8-10 years. If youre a music. lover, as I am, it'll likely be worth it. I don't think I could do without it.

Thanx.

Does one subscription cover multiple vehicles?
