Pats Regular Season MVP (not named Brady)

It's gotta be Blount - hands down slam dunk for me

As great as his stats are w 18 TDs, 1100 yards - he's also just been a workhorse all season long with 300 carries

All of that - especially early in the season with Brady out - helped create a balanced offense that was vital to helping out while Brady was out thus securing the #1 seed

Honorary mention goes to the entire WR brigade - nearly all of whom are on the same page with Brady and help foster the balanced - hence more dangerous and unpredictable - receiving offense that I think Belichick craves as much as Brady (hence the obsession with two TEs - not that I'm complaining)

I actually was very concerned about the Pats offense going into the playoffs in the 2007 season despite the monster year Moss and Welker were having - they were completely predictable on offense as well, and if that catches up with you at the wrong time....

Not so this post-season... in fact I'd bet Belichick has a few surprises in store for opposing DCs, especially given our pass catching RBs too!

These guys are always RIGHT where Brady needs them - when he needs them there and that's always been the key for Patriots victory.

I mean TWO interceptions ALL SEASON!

That's a Brady stat - but the receivers are the ones who got to where they needed to be - and of course the O-line played a HUGE role in the success of all of the above

And Damn - where to start and finish on D - a relatively no name D comes together to become one of the best Ds in the league

Truly what we're witnessing is the beauty to team sport when it's functioning as it should

For that I guess we better nominate Belichick!

I'm going with the O-line. That unit is why they have a rushing game, it's why Brady has time to throw and it is why Brady has been able to throw deep as often as he has.

I have to add that there isn't a name I've seen in this thread that I could completely rule out because all of them have heavily contributed to this team's success. Wow.

Blount

18 TDS. He hvelas taken his game to another level imo.

Hard to pass on Edelman but Blount gets it imo.

In terms of team MVP (minus TB12), he is behind all of the following:

Butler, Edelman, McCourty, HT, Cannon and Bennett.

Blount is good, not great. He has had a nice year but he is not irreplaceable. Granted dudes like a washed up Steven Jackson can't replace him but he isn't all that special. If we want to wear a defense down in the second half of the game, sure give Blount a healthy amount of carries. But if we want to game plan to carve up a good defense on the ground, use Dion Lewis.

I don't disagree with that.

But we're not talking about who's the best, but most valuable (besides TB12). And this year Blount having a career year, and after Brady, he's been the most valuable to me.

If we're talking unit, OL for sure.

MVP aside from Brady?

Butler, Blount and Cannon would be my first picks.

Moses Cabrera, Jim Hardy and Dante Scarnecchia,

Ok, I'll shut up now.

You make an excellent point. The team was just as good last year but at the end of the season were too beaten up to compete.

It's a team sport, and Pats are the ultimate team. What is MVP in this system? We should be giving the NMU, next man up.

My NMU awards...

1) Bennett for making it okay that we lost Gronk

2) Andrews for making us forget Bryan Stork ever existed

3) Trey Flowers for doing Chandler Jones better than Chandler Jones

4) Malcom Mitchell and Chris Hogan for finally giving us young depth at WR and a deep threat that we haven't seen since the Moss Days

5) Logan Ryan and Eric Rowe seriously under appreciated at corner, giving us playmaking ability on par with what we had with Revis and Browner

On this note, what are the chances Brady wins Comeback Player of the Year? Any road blocks to that with the 4 game suspension? I know we don't give a **** (for the most part) about MVP, much less CPOTY, but just a curiosity.

it has to be the best player on our D which is Butler and Branch. but i think we will still be fine without butler. but without branch our run D will suffer IMO.

how can you win a CPOTY when he was great every year? CPOTY are for those who kinda sucked

I thought CPOTY could also include players coming back from injury. Does it count if you "come back" from a suspension and light the league on fire?

2 players.

On Offense: LeGarrette Blount

Absent Brady, absent Lewis, he put the running game on his back. Forget the YPC statistics and remember how many vital plays he made.

On Defense: Alan Branch

It all starts with stopping the run. And no one has contributed more to that than Branch.

Two great veterans having great seasons. Thanks to them both!

I just don't think Blount is the most valuable to the team. I think that Butler changes everything on defense. Things would likely crumble without him on the field.

Our offense would also sputter w/o Edelman too. Blount has been helpful, especially earlier in the year...just think there are more valuable players who have had a greater impact.

To Blount's credit he is great down on the goal line and always reliable to punch it in.

I'm with you there. We've seen how bad a defense can be without a good #1 CB. Butler has been the MVP after Brady, IYAM. Followed closely by McCourty
