Chip Kelly to be fired - (MOD UPDATE: He's Been Fired)

I think Kelly could benefit from some time here but not as an OC. He needs to see how a successful NYFL team is coached.

Agree completely.

Chip has a great football mind.

If Chip has a flaw is the personnel side of the business. Players, cap, etc.

No better co-op/work study program than right here.

His gimmick offense isn't exactly a strength either.

I think Chip is a good coach that has now gotten screwed in two organizations.

SF is a dumpster fire.

I think he's a good college coach, I don't believe his system can work in the pro's. I think Pro coaches have to be adaptable and Kelly's system and approach lack that adaptability. I also think his system relies upon having a big advantage in athleticism and you don't get that advantage in the pro's, everyone gets basically the same caliber of athletes and it becomes a matter of what you can get out of those pieces instead of just being bigger, faster, and better.

Its a shame the guy was not really given a chance to implement his system. How about giving the guy another year or 2 before throwing in the towel?

With the right players, his offense works at the pro level.

He needs a QB to run it and to think more about complimentary football and the defensive side of the game.

Plus his personnel decisions are brutal.

I'm not sure the evidence is there to support the opinion that his offensive system doesn't work at the pro level. The Iggles averaged 28, 30 and 24 ppg w/ Foles, Sanchez and Sam Bradford.

No one could do anything with that 49ers train wreck. Chip was doomed from the start. Zero talent

Chip's problem is knowing how pro personnel fit into his system, lack of complimentary football, stubbornness and defensive focus.

Love Chip but he does have flaws.

Its kinda like Nick Saban. Very good coach but because of his personality, the college game might be better for him.

Don't you wonder what might have been if he had of gotten Mariota.

I don't think it works in the pros because it isn't a complimentary system, it hangs the defense out to dry. It may put up points but there's obviously much more to it than that.

If the Niners want Mcdaniels and Grap it better not be cheap even for friends.
A first and Aaron Lynch or a 1st and second should be the going rate.

Carlos Hyde could be involved in that trade as well.
No favors in football!

What a joke of a franchise they've become.

Not a fan of Chip's, but he deserved more than this.

Josh (and every serious potential HC) should avoid this situation obviously. You're clearly not going to have any time to implement your program. Get it right in year one or get out.

I think the 49ers franchise carries with it a pretty high prestige factor. It's probably the Packers, Cowboys, Steelers type level, but is above most all others. It's that Bill Walsh effect - 5 franchise superbowls - more than all others except the Steelers (tied w/ the Cowboys).

Add in the new stadium + the entire Bay Area market as their local market w/ the Raiders most likely leaving town as other factors boosting desirability.

Any offense works with the right players. His just sucks though.

They don't have to give anything for McDaniels.
If you think garapolo fetches the 2bd overall plus more I just don't know what to tell you but you are going to be disappointed.

Agreed, there's prestige, but terrible ownership. It's beginning to remind me of when Snyder took over the Redskins, running that once-proud franchise into the ground, although it finally looks like it's getting better now that Snyder is getting the **** out of the way.

I'd like to see the Gators fire McElwain and hire Kelly.

Yes . I've noticed that Chip isn't much of a field position guy. He's very Mike Martzish

legitimately surprised
