Carr OUT for the season

I didn't think Oakland had much of a chance beating us in Foxborough but I feel bad for the Raiders.. that would suck big time to have a great season to end it with a gigantic injury.
i hear what you are saying but, screw the Raiders. Nobody would feel sorry for us if Brady went down. Nobody feels sorry for us with Gronk out. Screw everyone and we need to continue to make the league pay for the deflate-gate ********.

Still have to win 2 games to get to Houston. Like someone else said most likely have to beat KC and Pitt to get there. I don't care for the Raiders but it's tough not to root for Carr. He looks like he has the same passion for the game that TB12 possesses.

Easy to root for Carr now - but people said the same thing about Brady and then 4 super bowls later they hate him. Watch Carr turn Oakland into a perennial contender and people will start hating him, which is a good thing for him in a way.

let the fish win and get the 6th seed.

we wouldn't have to face denver/pitt/baltimore. lol talk about a cake walk!!!! rest tb12...mail it in and let miami win!

Does this now mean that if the Raiders lose to Denver next week, and we win against Miami, we get homefield?

If we win, we get home field regardless.

If Oakland loses and KC wins out, KC wins the division and Oakland is playing wild card weekend. So it isn't just the #1 seed at play for them.

I believe we own the tiebreaker with KC.

if the raiders lose next week..which they will, then we're number 1 no matter what! we'd have 3 losses, while oakland would have 4.

im all in on letting miami win next week. we're number 1 regardless. and even if the raiders somehow win against denver, they will lose in the divisional round to KC

Miami over Pitt in the wild card would be awesome. I would love to host the fish in Gillette in the divisional.

tiebreaker doesnt matter, KC has 4 losses. at worst, we'll have 3

I would play everyone as usual for at least the 1st half of the game. If the game is literally meaningless to us then I would sit Brady and Bennet and who ever else is banged up in the 2nd half. Let Jimmy G get some time to showcase his skills.
I agree. Play to WIN. If the Miami game is within reach, pull them. Doing everything possible to secure HFA is of utmost importance. IMO. Any player could get hurt at anytime. Including the playoffs. You play until you win it all, or get injured (God forbid). EDIT: Miami does concern me with injuries more than most teams. They are dirty QB killers. Hell, they knocked out a bunch of QB's this season. Including ours! But, play TB anyway.

i agree. im sure bill and the staff are going over all of the scenarios. carr being out changes the entire approach. rest brady, let jimmy play...see what happens.

it might not even matter, since the chiefs will probably defeat denver tomorrow night meaning the dolphins clinch the 6th seed.

and potentially lose the 1 seed in the process?
I hate having to lose the #1. But when you have a weak #1 who likely will lose to the visiting team, I'm not as concerned. Last year, we all knew Denver was going to have the championship when we bungled the #1. This year, if we rest our guys in the 2nd half, we have a chance at the #1 by winning with said guys or having Oakland lose/tie. Moreover, we have a huge chance at having a home game in the championship (if we take care of business) due to the Raiders being saddled with a backup. Lastly, we get Miami in and kick Denver out. It is a tricky situation. I'd love to see Jimmy start and still beat the Dolphins.

But getting the 2 seed means we play an entirely different opponent in the divisional - like Pitt or KC. Let's say Miami gets the 6 seed and upsets pitt, we'd be kicking ourselves for not getting the 1 seed and the chance at playing the dolphins in the divisional.

You hate the idea of lying down, but strategically, I agree with you. I can't see how taking our foot off the gas next week, along with the first round bye, could do anything but help us heal and get well-rested for a run. And being conservative with your stars in nonessential games seems pretty smart these days; it especially drives the point home to see all the injuries today--two star QBs out with broken legs and that AWFUL Lockett injury in Seattle.

That would make things much simpler.

nobody knows who the backup QB is in Oakland?
