Anyone else thinking Pats/Giants 3?

Possible matchup with tbe falcons. If they win likely will face the cowboys. When was the last time a team beat the same team 3 times in a season? Anyone know?
That matchup doesn't happen much. Last time I remember it was 2007 when the cowboys swept Giants in the regular season but got beat in playoffs. I did look it up last week though and I think I read that the team is 2-0 has a pretty good record in the 3rd matchup. One that is memorable is the Titans giving the jaguars all 3 losses they had in 1999

Looks like Dallas beat the eagles 3 times in 2009 and Pittsburgh beat Baltimore 3 times in 2008

Sure. I love Butler's game. Hes had a great season but Beckham is playing at another level now IMHO. Nothing against Butler.

Was that before or after OBJ got into a fight with the netting? He's playing well, but his numbers are down from last year.

The Giants offense is anemic because they can't run the ball. Their o line stinks. If the Patriots can stop the run in their nickel and dime the defense will do fine against their offense

That's what I'm saying. When we lost to the giants, it wasn't just Eli who killed us. Sure Manning made some great throws and got a lot of luck, but Tuck, Strahan, etc. wrecked our offensive line. And our D in 2011 was horrible with sterling moore being out best CB.

This year if you can stop OBJ and sterling shephard the giants offense will be crippled.

And what I'm saying that's easier than it should be because they can't run the ball with any type of success

Ok, expect to get flamed, but I want NO part of the Giants in a Superbowl. Living here in this rat hole, and having to listen to them, AND if they beat us AGAIN? Ill pass.

Classic Jinx thread.

Weird things always happen when we play them. It just isn't a match up l wanna see as a fan. They have a better D.
A better defense? The Pats have allowed 16.6 PPG vs the Giants 17.9. The Pats give up 336 yds per game vs the Giants 347. The point differential is +132 for the Pats and +22 for the Giants?

What was that again?

Yeah, the Giants have been pulling it out of their ass for weeks.

the Giants are an extremely stingy defense. I don't think it's that absurd to think they have a better defense than the Patriots. I'm not saying they do, just saying it's not a dumb opinion to have

Well, sure. Other than all the stats saying otherwise. I mean, sure, give up more yards per game, more points per game, but be a better defense? Why not?

lol i was looking for this thread earlier and couldn't find it. Made a thread about potentially Pats vs Giants that could be moved here.

The numbers are so close. The Giants are better against the run though by the way.You watch their offense? It's awful and it keeps the defense on the field a lot. They do a pretty damn good job. How many Giants games have you watched this year? I've watched a lot of them

Edit. The only two teams that have had their defenses on the field longer than the giants are Cleveland and San Franciso and those are probably the two worst defenses in the league. And the Giants are still 3rd in Points Ppg. Pretty amazing considering how much they step onto the field

Edit 2: the giants allow the second lowest completion percentage and are 6th in yards allowed per attempt. They have the most attempts on them this season, 42 more than New England

How are they better against the run? They're giving up 90.1 yds per game vs 87.9 for NE. They give up more yards passing than the Pats do as well.

Did you read my post about the passing, Again I never said they were better, Im saying its not absurd to think it though. As for the rushing, I do think the Giants are better, Thye give up .3 less yards per carry. That doesnt mean the Pats arent good at stopping the run, they are solid. Giants have 36 more attempts against them. and have given up only 30 more yards. You are looking at one stat that is easily exploitable. And with that refer to my signature

If must be the Giants, please someone remind TFB to score a few more points this time. The 14 or 17 crap is not going to do it.

I mean the 14 point game he was knocked on his ass a bunch of times, and kept getting back up. TFB can't do it alone

Everything has to be taken into context. I'm not saying the Giants D is better, but NY did play the packers, steelers, and cowboys 2X. I would argue their secondary is probably better than ours, but ours is darn good too.

Giants and Seahawks are the two I think have the best shot at representing the NFC.

I know looking past games is frowned on by fans but I'm getting a feeling now there are good odds it will happen. I think the Raiders are the only team in the AFC that can challenge the Pats.

Both teams are starting to peak and I think the Cowboys falter down the stretch. There's the GMen, the Boys then everyone else in the NFC. Yes the hawks beat NE but have looked suspect since.

Not sure how I feel about a third shot at our SB kryptonite. It would be amazing to beat them once for the Lombardi but at the same time I don't want to see them again.

No thanks I'll pass. I've seen that movie...twice now, it does not need to become a trilogy!

A little OT, but I'm thinking the final four in the AFC will be

Pats
Raiders
Steelers
Chiefs

So we will have to play two of those other teams. As it stands now, if those are the final four, the Chiefs (#5 seed) would play the Pats (if we get the #1 seed) and the Raiders (#2 seed) would play the Steelers.

I know it's a lot of looking ahead, but it gives a slightly more reasonable look about how the post-season might go.
