Here we go again: ESPN writer cites "advanced analytics" to show TB12 will suffer a imminent decline

pats/brady are clickbait and right now the biggest story for them is brady is 39 and whether he will be kept by BB. This story is going to be recycled in various ways. I am a little surprised these guys havent insuniated any HGH stuff on brady like manning considering how obsessed with his age and impending dropoff they are.

Brady, Patriots nearing an uncomfortable crossroads

A rather intriguing, but for many, annoying form of speculation is that Brady is approaching the age where most quarterbacks historically experience a decline their level of play. This writer (from ESPN of course) cites the findings of senior analytics specialist Brian Burke to prove this.

Feel free to read if you'd like...and if you're tied of hearing the skeptics and nay-sayers who argue Brady can't pull it off, feel free to use the *ignore thread* option

I can't wait for Brady to prove em' wrong.

If you saw the game thread vs the ravens, there were comments about brady losing it after the 1st two drives

The better Brady plays the more hysterical they get. I absolutely love the fact that all of the haters have to suffer through the relentless success of Brady and Belichick. Asswipes like Stephen A Smith and Chris Chase etc etc are coming out of the woodwork to try and change the narrative away from Brady's accomplishments and success. In the end however they lose, and it's going to be a bitter pill for all of them to swallow. Gotta love that.

Brady is in uncharted waters when it comes to his maniacal pursuit of perfecting his diet, exercise, and lifestyle routines and he has the resources to push the envelope to the extreme.

I wouldn't be surprised even if he's diagnosed with late onset Werner syndrome (think the bad Robin Williams movie Jack) tomorrow that he would still be able to find a way to play at a high level for a few more years.

Now if he ever develops Warner syndrome he could be out of the league in a hurry...

Well don't dismiss this out of hand. Didn't advanced analytics correctly predict the rapid decline of ESPN? Oh wait, my bad, that prediction was based on the eye/ear test and common sense. Never mind...
Yeah, there wasn't anything particularly egregious about the article. He may or may not prove to be correct, but it's certainly true that there isn't much of a track record of QB's being great after they turn 40. Not everything is a personal insult you know.

People can point to Favre having a great year at 40 and Moon's uccess in his early forties but there has never been a QB who was actually moving better at forty and throwing better at forty than when they were ten years younger, and that's exactly what Brady is doing. Unlike every other QB before him Brady is getting better athletically, not worse, and that's age defying and makes him the exception to the rule.

I'm not going to even bother reading any amount of this article. Based off solely replies to this thread, it looks like the argument is that Brady is going to decline ASAP because Manning did at a younger age and Brady can't possibly surpass him in any aspect.

While it is undoubtedly the result of unprecedented hard work by Brady, part of his "increased athleticism" is a product of the bar being set incredibly low the first 10+ years of his career.

The article did not just include Manning.

Huge long article filled with stats that BSPN makes out themselves and still not one piece of evidence to suggest what the headline says.

The problem with this article (besides it being a BSPN link) is they only use Brett Favre and Peyton Manning as examples. Manning had neck surgery that affected the nerves in his arm, and we all know Brett Favre wasn't nearly as meticulous as Brady is when it came to taking care of his body. Favre also had a penchant for running around and chucking the ball down field. Brady mostly stands in the pocket and throws short passes. As time has gone on his mobility (no one will confuse him for Sonic the Hedgehog, of course) has improved so much it's a big part of his game. While he does take hits and moves when he has to, he also throws the ball away, or takes a sack at times instead of letting a linebacker unload on him. Brady has not only played well as he's gotten older, he's played better. If anyone can play well into their 40's it's Brady. Only time will tell. I'm betting on black....I mean Brady.

espn needed a new article on their nyjfl page, and their choices were to either write about the Steelers' deflated footballs or the Giants' illegal use of walkie talkies

Shockingly, instead they just decided to go with a negative article about Tom Brady

We all whiff on our last breath.

So this idiot uses manning as an example. The same manning that had a neck injury and was hopped up on HGH for 2 seasons after he had neck surgery and weirdly had a severe decline the season the nfl started testing for HGH....

Manning also probably ate a ton of Papa John's. I doubt Brady has eaten a slice of pizza in years....

But hey, Manning is just a regular guy, drinks Bud Light just like the rest of us! So relateable.

To each their own - After deflategate, among other things, I consider ESPN commenting on a Brady decline as a personal insult....or more precisely their motives are entirely suspect.

As far as the article it is "sun rises in east! film at 11" click candy (39 year old QB may not have a lot of seasons left? shhhhhocking!!). When will Brady's decline be precipitous enough to warrant BB making a change at the starting QB spot? Next year? Three years? Take your guess chief because it will be as valid as ESPN's guess too -- except your guess won't be backed up with a steeped history of widely public dishonesty/ax grinding.

Yes, here we go again, yet another poster posting clickbaits. Congrats! You've been skooled, son!

1. Brady has suffered no injuries with long-term effects. Legs, neck, shoulders, concussions, nothing like that.
2. The year he missed with the ACL might actually serve to enhance his longevity.
2. No other long-time great QB in NFL history had an exercise/diet regimen anywhere near Brady's. Peyton? Nope. Favre? Snort. Bradshaw? LOL Can you think of ANY?

Those points would be brought out by any decent reporting. Of course, decent reporting has nothing to do with this article.
The only PLAYER I can think of is Jerry Rice, nevermind just QBs.

It's no secret that 40+ pro athletes performing at a high level is a rarity. Dont need fancy analytics to tell you that. Just enjoy TB12's greatness while its still around
