Michael Floyd claimed by Patriots after DUI arrest in Scottsdale

1- He was at an intersection
2- He was passed out at the wheel
3- The engine was running.

So, it's not like he was on the side of the road somewhere and just trying to sleep it off.

My wishful thinking/best case scenario is that he WAS parked off to the side to begin with, trying to sober up with some tunes playing and was close to an intersection. That would technically be the offence. I've had a friend get a DUI for pretty much the same thing.

It's hard to imagine pulling up to a stop sign, putting the car in park, and zoning out. If he just passed out, he would have probably stalled the car out (in a manual) or creeped through the intersection (automatic).

Not making excuses for the guy, he has a lot of options to avoid that situation either way, but it was clear he was parked and sleeping at a stop sign...just trying to add up how that happens.

This is the type of player that will lessen the handicap of not having gronk against man coverage. He has the capability to high point and dominate cbs one on one. We were pretty much down to Bennett in that area. Not only a good pickup as far as pure talent, but a huge step in getting back to a very eclectic offense.

Assuming 4+ weeks until our first playoff game, he will be ready to contribute.

But will Brady trust him? Will Brady like him? If Brady doesn't trust him in won't matter if he gets open, he wont get targeted.

I like the move though, I would rather see this guy play in 20-30% of the offensive snaps and keep Matt Slater on Special Teams.

I had a post where I asked for a second and Floyd for Jones before the trade to AZ was done.
It happened differently but we ended with the same results.

Wonderful low risk move by Belichick.

Even if Floyd is a #4 WR at his best, he will immediately become the best deep threat on this offense. From a pure size/speed perspective, he is the best deep threat this team has had outside of Moss and Gronk. That might not account for much in this offense, but who here wants to see Brady miss Slater on another playoff bomb, or Edelmen get smacked as he dives for a ball just out of reach? Floyd is a better option on deep routes and that can allow our other WRs to focus on what they do best. The decoy factor alone restores what was missing from this offense and takes some pressure off of Edelmen, Mitchel, Hogan, etc.

I think Hogan and Mitchell are their best deep threats, imo Floyd will be a possession receiver outside the hashes for them. If he can give them that I'll be more than happy.

I have serious suspicions that this move was made as Gronk insurance and if Floyd stays next season and works out that Gronk might be traded. We'd be back to a WR dominate offense with Hogan, Mitchell, Edelman, and Floyd. That is a damn good WR corp.

Embarrassing? How so? Obviously, their eye for talent is far superior to everyone else's. Just like their vast superiority on the field to everyone else over the past 15 years. To be fair, the team that you'd expect to bite on this particular type of rent-a-player is one that's looking toward the playoffs and has just lost 2 receiving targets to injury. They're really the best fit.

Floyd is more of an intermediate threat along to lines of David Givens. And I think that's a good thing..

Yea, a nice big bodied WR with a lot of length that can work the middle of the field and the outside.. if he can show up, buy in, put his head down and grind... he could be a nice little asset come playoff time from a matchup perspective

the other 31 thought they were playing chess, BUT they were playing checkers... Belichick, sat back and waited, knowing that he was willing to PAY for him, when the others thought the might get him cheap. Belichick was the one playing 3 D chess.

The kid has a problem. This is his 2nd DUI. Should not be rewarded like this. Should be given treatment.
