OT: Cards release Michael Floyd

Any news? I'm 100% in favor of bringing him if no one claims before the Pats.

I wouldn't be surprised if Marshall wants to come to NE next season for a shot at a ring. I think he's reached a point in his career where it could actually work.
We don't want him

He was getting progressively worse week by week in Arizona, and that's a system he has a career of experience in, I don't see how he suddenly comes into New England and blossoms in a complex system he has no experience with. I think people put way to much stock in draft position and college scouting reports and too little into their progression or regression as pro's. I realize Belichick has been able to turn some players who struggle elsewhere into productive players for them but there are only 3 games left and Floyd is likely going to be suspended,

I can't imagine Belichick being happy with him making the trip (albeit a short one) to NY each week to film Inside the NFL.

But does bb want him? And will he take a 2m 1 year contract? Not sure if his ego can take the hit.

Could be, but he allowed Cardona to fulfill his navy obligations so he isn't completely opposed to letting players pursue outside interests. I have never seen Marshall as a good fit here but he may have reached a point where getting a ring is the most important thing to him, if so it could work.

I don't disagree that Marshall would have to make concessions I just think it's worth considering if the Jets cut him. He could be a great role player for them if that's where his head is st.

He's an elite WR no doubt, has been productive regardless of which team he's on or who his QB is

Only problem is that he wants to get into media and become an analyst after his career is over and one of the things he loves about the Jets is that it's right there in New York for the his Inside the NFL show that airs weekly on Showtime

If the Jets want him back then I think he signs with them based on the convenience alone. The only way he'd sign with Pats is if BB allowed him to continue his 2nd job, which I'm not sure would fit into our locker room culture, especially since Marshall is so opinionated and shares stuff about the teams he plays for on the air

From a talent standpoint, I would love to have him because he's a legit, huge, elite WR that can catch the ball anywhere on the field and make plays

I just highly doubt BB would be ok with him still doing his broadcasting job in New York while playing for the Pats... especially if it was following a loss

He was an outstanding addition to the Jets, he lived up to and earned every dollar in that contract

ummm, if Cardona didn't fulfill his Navy obligations he would be AWOL and subject to arrest and confinement. bad analogy

I for one was shocked that the Jets didn't move Marshall before the trading deadline, they almost have to cut him in the off season for the cap room. If he did sign with the Pats (which I doubt) then no way BB lets him film Inside the NFL.

I could see Marshall coming to the Pats on short time, low money, just to get a shot at the ring. Unlike a lot of people here, apparently, I really like the guy. He's very smart, for one thing, and he's matured a lot since his troubled years.

And he has talent off the charts.

LOL... I'm sure McDaniels would love to coach Marshall again.

I'd be surprised if the Titans don't put in a claim. They badly need help at the position and are vying for a divisional crown. I could easily see Floyd going there.

I'm sorry, did you just call being an Annapolis graduate and an officer in the United States Navy an "outside interest"?

It wouldn't surprise me if he passes right through waivers. When would he have to serve the Four Game Suspension??? That could potentially hurt the Team who invests in him in FA.

brandon marshall isn't patriot material.

no thanks!
Has never played on a team that made the playoffs. Many of his teams made them before he got there and after he left too. Given the theatrics and clutch failures I don't see it as a coincidence.

Funny, that's exactly what I was told when I started pushing for them to go after Marcellus Bennett last Winter.

Eccentric and trouble are very different things. Marshall is a competitor and he's grown up substantially in recent years, if he wanted to come here I would welcome it.

Not for nothing but, but I think I read today that the "omnipotent punisher" from 354 Park Ave just gave 4 games to some guy who had a DUI earlier this season. So if that's the case, Floyd is unlikely to be a playoff factor for anyone this season. Of course that assumes that all punishment in the NFL is even handed and fair. (sarcasm)
