I don't think we need him at this point, but I know he was someone people talked about coming here next offseason.

Wow...

BB gave Branch a 2nd chance and hes had all kinds of issues.

Maybe not this year but what the hell?

I'd give him a look if he clears waivers. The team needs more depth at the position. He played at Notre Dame and he's smart. I suspect he'd be able to pick up the offense by the time the playoffs roll around.

I really loved Floyd at Notre Dame. Don't see how he isn't claimed on waivers, though. His potential is too high to make it through, I would imagine. He may not be a superstar, but he's had 1000 yard seasons before. He's a big bodied, proven receiver. He'll latch on somewhere.

Michael Floyd

If he clears waivers and he's not doing anything else this season then why not sign him for the rest of the season? Shoot, he could be ready to make a few plays in the playoffs. Better than Griff Whalen, I would assume.

Definition of an underachiever who needs a new start.
Happens to be at a position where we are thin. I would assume if we have one injury at WR this guy could see a lot of time. Big guy, which could help since we are down to 1 TE.
Don't see any reason not to grab him, depending on contract status, even make a waiver claim.

Nothing. To. Lose.

Idk if he could block, but imagine him playing a Flex TE for us (Hernandez-style, without the killing).

An upgrade over Griff. BB says he always works to make the team better. Sign the beast.

The guy is talented for sure but... IMO it sets a bad precedent this year. It's like unofficially telling the players on the roster here there are no ramifications for driving under the influence. I would be shocked if he could even get anywhere near prepared to play in the offense here. In Arizona they pretty much run a number route tree passing scheme, here it its defensive recognition route adjustments. Just my .02 cents.

Im not sure BB is a “house cabernet“ guy ..

"Police said Floyd's story jumped around between him drinking on the team plane back from Miami and drinking at the W Scottsdale hotel, but Floyd eventually 'settled' on having had wine—'house cabernet'—on the team plane," Weinfuss continued. "Floyd also told the officers he was on a blood-thinning medication."

Floyd was also arrested in 2011 for a DUI while he was at Notre Dame and was cited in 2010 for underage drinking.

The problem with that is its the defense that determines what position he is. Meaning they would certainly treat him as a WR and cover him with a corner, so the value of pretending he is a flex TE is limited to if he can block like one. Otherwise its defended as 3 WR.

$1.3m cap hit if my math is right.

Will be surprised if he isn't claimed by a team ahead of the Pats. I would absolutely do it though. Nothing to lose.
1.3 for the remaining 3 weeks? UFA in 2017?
