Dear Gameday Thread Posters

I think the highlight this week was someone not being happy with the blocked FG because we "used it too early in the game".

Ok, now that's hilarious!!! Did anyone complain about putting the flea-flicker on film so Baltimore will be prepared for their Pats playoff game, and they won't have anymore wrinkles up their sleeves?

I wouldn't be surprised.

That big DISAGREE is from me. (I'll take it down in a few minutes.)

I wasn't feeling go last night, so I shut the TV after Cyrus's bizarre play. Still confident they were going to win, but I was just wiped.

First thing I did today was go to the game thread, backpedaling almost 70 pages, to get to that moment.

It was more fun than the tape of the game!!!!!!!

Most people were hysterical after those 2 fumbles, and rightfully so, but I saw a total of 2 people claim to turn off the TV and declare the game over. Might as well call them out individually rather than the entire thread of posters.

This ^ All I did was laugh. That being said, people had every right to be discouraged and pissed off after back to back momentum changing fumbles. Completely unacceptable and pathetic.

i check in every once in awhile when i need something - like last night it looked like hogan was held in the back of the endzone on the INT, and my wife's "huh?" response wasn't cutting it......so i posted there

then i read a few pages and realized why i generally just watch games alone lol

If you think the game day threads are bad, you should see the chatroom on the reddit live streams.

Some friends here in DC, husband and wife Mass transplants, adopted a dog a few years ago and named him Brady. He was doing well adjusting to his new home until they found him upstairs hiding in a closet at halftime of a Pats game. Apparently, the GOAT was having a bad half and the wife was repeatedly screaming things like, "Brady, you idiot" at the top of her lungs. It took the dog nearly a week to go near her again.

Game day.

The gameday thread is just the long-distance equivalent of screaming at your tv. It's a moment-by-moment emotion meter. We'd probably do posters a kindness by treating it Snapchat-style and deleting after the game is over.

No, the self-censoring Snapchat style thread would make several valuable and amusing usages impossible. For example:

I plan to post a best-of gamethreads in the playoff BYE week and am already collecting posts for that. Maybe we can make a poll with the overreaction of the year or something.. the "can't stand it" award..

I had to stop reading the thread because my stream was behind. However, I did like when one person said they were starting to see the cracks with Tom. Fast forward a few hours and "omg this team is awesome Brady is goat"

I was mad as heck after the two fumbles, but I remembered the 2014 AFC divisional against the Ravens and how we were down by 14 points TWICE and still came back and won.

Yeah, I had to step away from the broadcast for a little while after Slater's fumble (which I predicted the moment the ball entered his hands. If the man could hold onto a football, he would have a completely different job description.)

As you say, it wasn't a lack of confidence in the team -- the Pats were dominating on both sides of the ball. It was just self-preservation since I could feel my blood pressure rising.

When something negative happens, first commercial break, I'll check out the thread for a few laughs. But I never follow any Pats game day thread because, you know, WATCHING THE GAME.

I check in at halftime and at the end of the game.

More fun watching the game with my son who was bouncing all over the room last night.

I think most who post negativity simply need an outlet to vent. As to whether it's irrational or not, seeing the Pats completely F up a 20 point lead with botched returns is always going to fire people up.

Thanks for the laugh. Even if the story isn't true (and I believe it is), it's still funny.

Please stop forgetting that we have the GOAT.

"Omg guys we are done"
"We lost"
"Our defense blows"

Have some faith.
As I watched the third quarter all I could think was, "The children must be going nuts in the Game Day Thread. Maybe I'll read that part for a few laughs tomorrow."

It's fine to vent, we all feel the same way when we see plays like the Jones and Slater miscues on Special Teams.

But, it's almost like a lot of the people on the game day thread haven't watched a Pats game in the last 16 years. The one thing we do better than any other team is close out games and over come mistakes! Brady didn't become the GOAT by shrinking when things got tough. Belichick doesn't turn and run when the team takes a few hits. So to see posters cry that the games over when we are up by 6 to me is a joke. I know I've called you Chicken Little a few times in recent game day threads (which I apologize for), but I honestly cannot understand the mind frame of just giving up when things get tough. That is not what the Patriots do!

Couldn't agree more. It's amazing how quickly some "fans" shrivel as soon as the game gets tight. It seems like without the Pats being spotted a 35-0 lead at the opening kickoff, none of them are able to even remotely withstand the pressure of just watching the game. Imagine if the players had the same attitude?? I have no problem calling them out in the Gameday threads. As already noted, they'll go on and on about "it's over", "there goes HFA", "this team isn't championship quality", etc. But then the Pats win and suddenly they're all "Yea, go Pats!"

Or we could do the rest of us a favor and give them a.. "timeout".

If Bill Belichick had any testicular fortitude and/or understood football like me, he would start Cyrus Jones in EVERY series of EVERY game until the Super Bowl so other teams don't know how good our other guys are.
