Patriots a r e the #1 favourites to win it all

1. This was the best performance by an NFL team I saw all year.
2. Excluding 3 unlikely gifts (TB int, Cyrus' and Slater's return fumbles) this was one of the best complementary performances I ever saw .. against a solid, tough team. If its true that Amendola comes back healthy for the playoffs - baring a few major injuries - this team is set (no matter what last 3 games show).
3. It is now very likely the road to SB will go through Foxboro.
4. They will likely manage to hide a lot of the playbook.
5. There is no other great team around. Of course there are good teams .. and on any given Sunday .. But the role of the favourite has to go to NE.

Yup, at the end of this week, they deserve to be #1 in any NFL power rankings, no questions asked.

The Ravens are also now more likely to miss the playoffs than make it, which eliminates who I still think would be the greatest threat in Foxboro for a playoff game.

I think if KC and NE finish with identical records, then there is a scenario where NE gets the tie-breaker. However, if Oakland somehow wrests the division from KC, then it seems NE will have to post a better outright record.

Yes that's correct, which is why an Oakland loss gives us a full we-can-lose-1-game margin of error.

If KC wins out, we get HFA going 2-1. But if Oakland wins out AND KC loses a game, we have to go 3-0.

Even if they had lost this game on another fluke play, I would have walked away thinking Pats were the team to beat. As you said, they were three dumb plays from this being a 40-6 type of game. Ravens were non-competitive outside of gift NE turnovers.

D looks more than good enough. Passing game weapons more than sufficient without Gronk.

But to me, the biggest boost was that McD was actually committing to the ground game vs a good run D. Being totally one dimensional has cost the team the last few playoff exits.

You could honestly make a case that Blount is the team's #2 MVP right now. Dude gets no love but he is having a career year and running with complete authority. That trucking of Weddle was epic.
