Report: surgery for Gronk

Deus and I are good. Never had a problem 10 years on this board.

I don't have a problem with him either it's just those occasional, arrogant one-liners that are somewhere on the verge between being insightful or just trolling.

Have fun with that. I'm 30 and had surgery last Wednesday to get them repaired. That surgery, recovery, and the PT thus far all absolutely blow. I just typed this reply with one friggin hand.

That sucks dude.

I was one-armed for a few weeks until I started PT.

Ortho surgeon says I have a 50/50 shot of avoiding it. I'll know more after New Years.

Its his way of showing he cares...

Did we all seem to forget that this team has made it to 5 AFCCG games in a row?

2 of them being without Gronk and 1 of them where Gronk got injured early in the game.

This team has a very good chance to get there for a 6th year and a row. Win and you get him back for the Super Bowl.

Sorry, but if we can't beat the suspect Raiders or Chiefs, potentially at home, heck or even on the road where we're currently undefeated, we wouldn't have a shot in the Super Bowl.

This sucks, but isn't the end of the world.

Brady has his best set of weapons in a long time. The only place we're weak is Tight End depth, but we still have a beast named Bennett there.

And yeah, Derby would be nice, but who's to say he'd even see the field? Just because Gronk is out doesn't mean they're going to keep the same offense in place. Do you guys not know Belichick by now?

It may be raining, but the sky isn't falling.

They definitely are as well-positioned to withstand this as they've ever been, assuming health (huge assumption). Quick triggers with Edelman and Lewis, deeper threats in Hogan and Mitchell, a healthy Bennett & improved Blount...throw DA and White in there...they can do it. Can't say definitively losing Gronk WON'T cost them a SB, but hopefully it won't.

It will be interesting to see how effective Blount will be, without Gronk on the field to dictate how opponents matchup against us now that we can't really run a legit hybrid (as in legit run/pass) 12 anymore. That's my biggest worry tbh

Very sucky news in every way. But the Pats are more prepared for this kind of thing than they ever have been before.

1. Blount has run the ball very well this year and they may need more reliance on the running game.

2. The emergence of White and the return of Lewis. They could run a lot of "pony" formations with both those RBs in the mix, and other teams simply have a hard time dealing with both of them.

3. The fact that the Pats still have Bennett. He's one of the best TEs in football, and while it's always better to have both Gronk and MB, it's still nice to have a pro bowl caliber TE on the field, even if you can't have two of them.

4. Malcolm Mitchell. The Pats have four legit NFL wide receivers that they can throw out there now. They could go completely spread with Lewis in the backfield. Most teams simply don't have the quality of DBs to handle five players like Edelman, Hogan, Mitchell, Amendola, and Lewis.

So does this make things harder? Absolutely. Does this automatically kill the season? No, for the first time in years, I don't think it does.

I just added him to my fantasy team!

I don't play fantasy football but it's a smart move. They kid will continue to be getting some serious time.

The best advice I can give you is follow the therapists instructions to a T and DO NOT miss a session. Trust me, you do not want to go through this.

I havent. I look forward to it. I'm an old married dad and the therapist is smoking hot. Gives great shoulder massages.

I'm in my mind-40s and 3 months ago I partially tore my labrum and rotator cuff laying down dirt with my wheelbarrow. So dumb.

I'll feel normal in 2018.

Imagine playing in a Super Bowl in that condition? See: Hightower.

My friend of a similar age and circumstances had a (mild) heart attack and his therapy was getting into a swimming pool with two smoking hot therapists. Strange how these things work, eh?

Oh and here it starts BSPN throwing out stats to make it look like Brady needs Gronk.

Just ignores that this is mainly because of 2013 when Gronk missed 9 games and the playoffs. Which then there was also the Hernandez being a murderer thing, Shane Vereen breaking his wrist in the 1st game and missing a lot of the year, Amendola tearing his groin in the 1st game and it left Brady throwing to Edelman, Dobson, Thompkins, Hoomawauni, Bolden and Boyce

Well this receiving corp is far superior than that one.

Bennett is a legitimate #1 TE and really in this offense can play like a top 5 TE in the league
Edelman is a better player than in 2013.
Amendola has found a nice role
Hogan is a legitimate threat in this offense
Malcolm Mitchell is coming on.
Lewis and James are very good pass catching backs.

Hell Pats just won a game where James White made a 4th down reception and Mitchell caught the GW TD.
