Shea McClellin

My eyeball test is different from BB's eyeball test, what we do know is that he is not afraid to bench a player or let a player go who is not doing what he is supposed to.

Remember on this board in the days of #93, Richard Seymour, and the posters all lamented what a bad game he had, only to hear BB in his weekly presser give high praise to him as it was the best game he ever had..

Sometimes it takes a long time for a player to change positions. Some have less flexible football IQ so it takes longer than others. Jury still out for me, but the evidence is leaning towards conviction. The 4 tackles Sunday is making the deliberation more contentious.

Let's not forget that even stellar players get tooled like Hightower on that long pass.

Bears fans used to complain they picked McClellin instead of Chandler Jones...guess we kinda know how that feels now lol..

When he tells you that he can't judge how a player did without seeing the film, he's usually lying. Call it stretching the truth, if you prefer. It's the same with injuries.

Or, to put it another way: he's able to talk about Mitchell's block on LGB's run, and what he did on every reception, so don't buy into the ludicrous notion that he couldn't talk about McClellin's whiff on a tackle (just for example) if he so chose.

Everything I've read about McClellan from the Bears' fans said that he's not a good player. He hasn't proven them wrong yet.

As for Belichick's public comments, I don't believe a word he says. I learned that after seeing how fanatical he is about keeping information to himself.

I don't like that BB doesn't give us anything but I dislike losses even more. I would also encourage him to play the mediots if it helps the team.

I think their tackling has been poor overall the past few weeks, way to many arm tackles. I did think the pressure was better today but OLB is definitely a concern.

I'm glad that the younger fans can get to see how it felt to watch Monty Beisel in 05 and 06.

However, no CB on the roster will ever live up to the sucktitude that was Duane Starks in 05.

I vaguely remember the Beisel days; I started watching with a critical eye in 2004 (at the advanced age of 9) and even I have memories of him just being in the wrong place or 2 steps behind all the time. Also, if we want to continue down this road...Eric Alexander.

Whether we like McClellin or not, we don't have a lot of other options. Any street free agents out there we should consider bringing in?

He's been trash at LB thus far. Maybe they could try him at DE and dial down what he needs to do pre-snap. I'm not sure. But he hasn't come anywhere close to earning that contract.

I noticed he cannot do many things with tackling being just one of those.

Yep. Can't tackle, has trouble diagnosing what hole the run is going through pre-snap, can't cover. I wouldn't mind dropping him down to DE and seeing if he has better luck rushing the passer but I have a feeling that the opposing offense would just run the ball right at him since I don't think he can set the edge either.

That may well be true, but it's also true that he didn't stink today.

I agree. On one play in the flat, in space, he came off his man, spun and made the tackle to stop a big gain. Right now, he's pretty average on the whole.

I'd rather have Collins. He was around the ball a lot in the parts of the Cleveland-Pitt game I saw. It's like he's playing the Money on passing downs and the Mike on running plays.

Was just going to say that about Van whatever his name is...I hope BB is trying to light a fire under Sheard's @ss. No way he can tell me that McClellan deserves to be active over Sheard!

I think Sheard has another things to worry about considering that McClellin isn't even playing the same position anymore.

Whenever i see him play i think "His signed duped BB into letting go of the young talented KGH". He is doing okay in Philly btw.

Right now I see McClellin and Sheard both as possible spring cleaning options in 2017. Sheard has a chance to win me back but the ship sailed on McClellin. He was worth a shot but doesn't have it.
