Spent some time last night putting the stats database back together as it will be tied in with the new layout, and here are a couple of pages with numbers for this season by distance that were interesting when you look at some of the players and by week, etc:

http://www.patsfans.com/new-england-patriots/stats/2016/gains/

2016 Patriots Offensive Player Breakdown Down by Distance Gained

And here's a list at the full season stats, which are sortable and I've checked the directional numbers against the league's splits and they match, so everything appears to be accurate:

2016 New England Patriots Stats | Sortable 3rd Down, Red Zone Passing and Rushing Patriots Stats.

I've got a bunch more that will be coming along with this that we used to have before, but those will probably come online once the site switches over.

I find the second down conversions a very interesting stat. NE converts I think it was 40 of 144 second downs. that's 27% that never make it to 3rd, and then they convert another 40-some of the 95 3rd downs.

PS I'm not sure why the number don't add up. i.e # of first downs minus conversion is not = to number of 2nd downs, and not by turnovers.

My guess is it's probably because I didn't include conversions by penalty in those totals, just the player conversions. I'll have to figure out a way to include them in those numbers. I have them all logged, so it shouldn't be too hard.

One thing that may stand out is that Bennett is taking Gronks-like targets/routes from prior years which is allowing Gronk to open it up a bit more. Hence the 22.1 YPC.

Though Bennett with 1 great game with TB has great red zone stats.

I'll come up with a way to break those out where you can look at how certain players performed by quarterback, which will probably be easy enough to do by just setting it up where you can select a range of games, etc. I've been doing this since 2011 and the idea of Brady not playing really didn't cross my mind when I first put it together

It adds a lot to the discussions that have been going on about the D, which leads to the question.....do you have these defensively? Of course since I am not aware of anywhere that does them, it would be impossible to compare to other defenses, but still interesting.

Yes, I'll have it in reverse where you can see the entire list of opposing QBs, receivers, running backs, and sort their stats, and I'm putting together a sortable defensive chart as well so you can see who leads the team in 3rd down tackles, etc. I have to finish auditing the opponent numbers and once I do, I'll build the defensive one off of that.

thanks

It will basically be a sortable chart like this where you can view it by down, quarter, etc., that's how I did it before. Does that work?

I meant the down and distance stats, 3rd down stats and red zone stats, that you have for the Patriots offense also done for the defense.

Good deal. I can definitely do that. I'll try and do it tonight after I get home from work.
