...and Brady was injured for a quarter,a game or two or maybe a bit longer who would you rather see step in and take over at QB....

Cassel who has been the clipboard holder and garbage time QB for the past several years but still very unproven and raw at this point?

OR

Vinny Testaverde who has been a playoff QB and is a long time veteran but is also much older than Cassel and has a long history of interceptions at crucial times.

If you are BB and its time to put either in who would you want?

Brady will sometime in his career have an injury to keep him on the sidelines for a play or a quarter if hopefully not longer so it would be interesting to know at least for right now who is the better choice in your mind although Cassel is most likely the guy to come in and take over but BB has been known to make decisions we never expect.

Of course this depends if we actually keep a 4th QB like Vinny if Matt Gutierrez also stays on the team but Gutierrez is NOT a possibility at this time so he is left out,I would rather see Troy Brown as a real emergency 4th QB than Gutierrez at this point.

Who would you want to see come in if a possible unfortunate situation happens at QB?

Depends on the context. I would be tempted to say Cassel if it were just an ordinary regular season game, (because I think he has a high ceiling and could become very good with experience) but if it were a must win game I might be more apt to say Testaverde because you now he can step iin and experience won't be a problem.

As for Belichick, when he had the choice between the low round kid and the experienced vet, he went with the kid, and we all know how that turned out.

Just dismiss that from your mind. Ain't gonna happen.
Repeat after me, Ain't Gonna Happen!

.......nah nah nah nah nah nah nah ..I can't hear you...nah nah nah nah nah

if. If. If. If. If. If. If. If. If. If. If. If. If. If.

I'll just pretend I never saw this thread.

Mods, can this thread be deleted and the server's hard drive fraged and wiped clean?

I second that...Too much bad karma for my taste.

I'd give Cassel the shot for a game or two, and if he flops, then go to Vinny.

Cassel...all due respect for Vinny, he has no tread on his tires. Vinny would be like a big oak tree with it's roots deep in the ground when he drops back to pass. Opponents would just tee off on him.

Never fear injuries...an injury gave us Tom Brady.

Yikes!....I'm going to have to put on an aluminum foil hat.....I don't even want to begin to hear anything like this!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, as we all know, Matt Cassel is no Tom Brady....as a matter of fact....there will never be another Tom Brady......the guy is legendary....greatest of all time.....Cassel has yet to prove he can be an adequate backup.....lets not talk about this anymore!!!!!

You are right, it is kind of a morbid topic. Yet, with Mr. Kraft, Bill B., and a team mentality we always have a shot.

This thread makes me cringe, but to answer your question (putting myself in BB's shoes) I would start Cassel for a game or two and when he inevitably looks too raw I would start the guy I traded for... Tim Rattay.

For this type of frightening possibility I wanted the Pats to sign Brad Johnson badly in the offseason..Would have made a Brady K.O. much easier to deal with - Brad can still flatout throw the ball well even at his age.

I guess we see go against him next week to see a little bit of him in action,Correct?

Yeah, but despite Brad having a decent first part of last season (as I recall) he has a horrible history of making BAD "jay fiedlerish" decisions and has the choke factor pretty badly.......I would rather have ole' Vinny out there I think........I'm pulling for Gutierrez to show something and stick around as in all honesty, I personally don't think Cassels "consistently" HAS it......He has shown flashes of brilliance at some times .....and looked horrible in the next......

{shutter}............ eff you and the horse you rode in on.

Refuse to ponder such things.
