When you watch Jacoby interact with teammates in the clip, I can't help but notice all the mutual backslaps and hand shakes that I saw ,and never saw even a flinch from JB I have a hard time think he'd be able to do any of that if he had a serious thumb injury

I was actually in awe last night. That was one of the best overall team performances I have seen. From coaching preparation and overall game plan to nearly flawless execution it was unbelievable. Their special teams pinned the Texans and cover two took away Hopkins and Fuller. Brissett played with poise and Blount and the skill players were really good all night. Beautiful game, sets the table for the rest of the season. They get number 5 this year.

Just to give people a better perspective of just HOW important the field position played in this game. There is an interesting stat. In scoring their 27 points, the Pats managed just 15 first downs. The Texans had 20 and managed to score none. But of course the Pats average starting position for this game was the 41 yardline, while the Texans' average starting position was the 16.

So while the Pats only had to get just over 2 first downs to get into FG position, Houston had to get 5. The fact was the Pats were not moving the ball 27 points better than the Texans were, Houston just had to move it further every time.

Ultimately this was a game of field position and turn overs. Now I love what Jacoby did last night but the fact is he only passed for 1o3 yds in a league where if you pass for just 200 yds, you suck. If he plays against Buffalo he'll have to do a lot better because we won't be able to count on a 3-0 TO advantage.

It's a mild index 3 type sprain with possible contusive pressure. High fives and holding a football in those cases are possible while throwing a football would not. According to my sources he could be out anywhere from one to four weeks.

The Patriots' total yards exceeded the Texans' by only 8. But field position differences outside that were huge, including:

• Above all, the turnovers.
• Getting the ball on downs late in the game (rather than on punts).
  
• A few yards each on a bunch of kicks.

I agree with this, he had so many high fives and handshakes, I really think the injury is minor. I even saw him slap someone on the helmet in celebration and he didn't flinch.

Another thing, is it me, or does this team seem incredibly close ? Seems like a really tight team with great chemistry. They seem to love Garoppolo AND Brissett. It's great to see.

You pointing this out made it even more obvious to me why playing bend & dont break makes sense in many situations when you have a nice lead. If you can constantly put your opponent in a field position that requires them to use a significant amount of plays then you also have more chances to disrupt their drive or at the very least milk the clock while setting yourself up to not give away huge plays.

In the end it's all a question of mathematical probability.
