It's easy, and only takes a few moments. Why would a team trade for Brady when they know the Patriots will cut him if they ever decided to go with Garoppolo? They couldn't afford both.Lets assume you are correct. Two young stud QBs are even better than one. Trade Brady next year for 2 1sts and then do the same thing with Grop or Brissett a couple years later. Then sit back and enjoy the next dynasty.
And Jimmy G might have lingering shoulder issues and never play effectively again. The NFL could also go on strike at the end of the next labor deal. There are so many things that could happen. I think the initial purpose of the thread was whether or not this was a Joe Montana to Steve Young instance. Some people think so, and so do not.BB could trade him or cut tomorrow. TB could die in a car accident on his way to the Cleveland game. Nobody can predict the future but the likely hood of the team making tough decisions or at least telling ones for the 2018 season are EXTREMELY high. Dance around it all you want but there will be a day TB isnt our QB and it's coming fast.
What if he sucks once teams have a book on him?Lord, dont pay him yet. Luckily, they dont have to make that decision until seeing him play all next year.
No he just won 3 Super Bowls in his first 5 years a starter. Garoppolo has won 1 game as a starter.
You need to slow your roll. You must be a car dealers dream with you emotional high purchases.
If the Romo comparisons continue to be true Garoppolo projects to injure his back next. And Jimmy G might have lingering shoulder issues and never play effectively again. I just haven't seen enough to say for sure that BB is going with Jimmy over Brady. To me it looks more like he is setting up to trade Jimmy and keep Brady and Jacoby. Now if Brady comes back this year and turns into 2015 Peyton Manning then I will switch my tune and become part of the keep Jimmy camp.
If Brady plays at least 85% as well as last year, then I am completely comfortable with BB getting rid of Jimmy and hoping that Jacoby is ready in 2019.
I do realize that BB doesn't give a crap about what I or probably any other fan thinks.

I got an idea!!!!! We can trade Garoppolo for 2 first round picks and then sign him as a free agent after 2017.Brady's talent in the areas i mentioned was obvious immediately.
I think if the Patriots thought has highly of Garoppolo being a franchise QB for them they wouldn't have drafted Brissett in the 3rd round this year.I think you are underestimatimg the ability of the patriots coachimg staff to prepare quarterbacks and overestimating the brain power needed to read NFL defenses. Its not rocket science.

So the Patriots extended Brady 2 years and drafted Brissett during the offseason, what about that indicates they see Garoppolo as the future?Drafting QBs is always a good idea. Pats drafted Davey in the 4th after Brady won SB 36 and O'Connell in the 3rd when Brady was 31.
I'm delusional one yet y'all are 100% confident in a 39 yr old QB playing elite until 2020... I can assure you the BB and Brady have discussed this. BB will always do what's best for the team. Keeping a QB you might get 3 elite years vs keeping one you could have for a decade is an easy choice. The only way it's gonna be a beautiful ending is if he wins the SB and retires, otherwise he's not gonna go out how he wants imo. Brady is likely gone by 2018.
Well maybe BB is just that fool. I mean if Jimmy was the no doubt future, why draft Jacoby in the third round this year.
I guess my post missed the point. I meant it more in the way that the Pats must have really like Jacoby to draft him that high. It could be completely independent of how they feel about Jimmy.Because otherwise you have to spend $3M+ on a vet backup or have Garoppolo go it alone.
