Joe Montana to Steve Young II?

Omg the trade Brady discussions are happening lol I didn't think a shoulder injury to Grop is what would start them

Lolllooooolololololol

Half this board thought Jimmy G was a bum after preseason, now he's a legend after 6 quarters, 2 of which were against crappy Miami.

It sucks that he's injured on so many levels. Second most important, that we won't have the four game sample size to make a decent assessment.

Lets assume you are correct. Two young stud QBs are even better than one. Trade Brady next year for 2 1sts and then do the same thing with Grop or Brissett a couple years later. Then sit back and enjoy the next dynasty.
Why would a team trade for Brady when they know the Patriots will cut him if they ever decided to go with Garoppolo? They couldn't afford both.

BB could trade him or cut tomorrow. TB could die in a car accident on his way to the Cleveland game. Nobody can predict the future but the likely hood of the team making tough decisions or at least telling ones for the 2018 season are EXTREMELY high. Dance around it all you want but there will be a day TB isnt our QB and it's coming fast.
And Jimmy G might have lingering shoulder issues and never play effectively again. The NFL could also go on strike at the end of the next labor deal. There are so many things that could happen. I think the initial purpose of the thread was whether or not this was a Joe Montana to Steve Young instance. Some people think so, and so do not.
I just haven't seen enough to say for sure that BB is going with Jimmy over Brady. To me it looks more like he is setting up to trade Jimmy and keep Brady and Jacoby. Now if Brady comes back this year and turns into 2015 Peyton Manning then I will switch my tune and become part of the keep Jimmy camp.
If Brady plays at least 85% as well as last year, then I am completely comfortable with BB getting rid of Jimmy and hoping that Jacoby is ready in 2019.
I do realize that BB doesn't give a crap about what I or probably any other fan thinks.

Lord, dont pay him yet. Luckily, they dont have to make that decision until seeing him play all next year.
What if he sucks once teams have a book on him?

No he just won 3 Super Bowls in his first 5 years a starter. Garoppolo has won 1 game as a starter.

You need to slow your roll. You must be a car dealers dream with you emotional high purchases.

Brady's talent in the areas i mentioned was obvious immediately.

If the Romo comparisons continue to be true Garoppolo projects to injure his back next.

Man Brady hasn't shown any signs of decline yet. Let's enjoy all the time he still has playing at an all time level. What matters now is this season and as of right now TB12 is still the best QB in the game.

I think you are underestimatimg the ability of the patriots coachimg staff to prepare quarterbacks and overestimating the brain power needed to read NFL defenses. Its not rocket science.

I got an idea!!!!! We can trade Garoppolo for 2 first round picks and then sign him as a free agent after 2017.

Tell me this isn't an amazing idea!!![emoji23][emoji23]

I think if the Patriots thought has highly of Garoppolo being a franchise QB for them they wouldn't have drafted Brissett in the 3rd round this year.

HeavyD: its not about being sure my man. The best in the business are able to project talent into the future with very high success rates. Who does this better than Belichick? How many times has he let a guy go right before he breaks down or picks a guy up right before he breaks down? If they dont project Garappolo out well then i guess forget what im saying.

In two weeks we went from people discussing whether the Pats should start Brissett over Garoppolo to whether the Pats should trade Brady to make way for the Garoppolo era. Ah! Isn't the world of reactionary sports fans opinions grande?

Drafting QBs is always a good idea. Pats drafted Davey in the 4th after Brady won SB 36 and O'Connell in the 3rd when Brady was 31.

So the Patriots extended Brady 2 years and drafted Brissett during the offseason, what about that indicates they see Garoppolo as the future?

I'm delusional one yet y'all are 100% confident in a 39 yr old QB playing elite until 2020... I can assure you the BB and Brady have discussed this. BB will always do what's best for the team. Keeping a QB you might get 3 elite years vs keeping one you could have for a decade is an easy choice. The only way it's gonna be a beautiful ending is if he wins the SB and retires, otherwise he's not gonna go out how he wants imo. Brady is likely gone by 2018.

You let Brady play until he's no longer playing at an elite level. If that's 3 years then that's 3 more shots at a Lombardi trophy you might not get with JG.

Last year was one of Brady's best years statistically. Despite a historically injured laden season Brady got this team to within two points from returning to a 7th SB appearance.

You nor I know how good JG is or will be. Is he elite? Is he really good? Is he a JAG?

We know what Brady is.

I'm seriously going to lose my **** on a near daily basis over how quickly some of you are ready to send Tom ****ing Brady packing.

Because otherwise you have to spend $3M+ on a vet backup or have Garoppolo go it alone.
I guess my post missed the point. I meant it more in the way that the Pats must have really like Jacoby to draft him that high. It could be completely independent of how they feel about Jimmy.
The way I read the draft was that they easily could have just drafted a late round QB or brought in an undrafted FA to compete with Jimmy and Brady.
